Well Nagesh, I can totally understand your thought process at the moment.

I have not done anything to the minor scratch and dent on my car.
I did inquire at Hyundai Service and they quoted 6k to me. The insurance should pay up to 4.5k but I decided to wait as I drive my car daily in bumper to bumper traffic and I expect to pick up a few more 'scars' and then go for the repair.
I had consulted 3M as well. They mentioned that they can remove all the scratches except the one where the paint is off. It would cost 1300/- and would include free car wash and wax. They also advised me to go for some microfilm covering, which would cost almost 12k.
Maybe if you only have scratches and your paint is intact, you won't be seeing huge bills.

Hello Guys,

I am in a predicament, and wanted to know a few things.

I have booked the Verna 4S SX(0) (P) AT, I need the delivery before the 20th of this month due to some personal reason.

Now the issue is that my showroom is saying that they have no Verna AT in stock, further on they are telling me that only the White color is available with Hyundai(Factory) and that the production of StarDust color will happen only post January 15.

Do you think these guys are telling me the truth ? Or, can it be that they have the white one in stock so they want to sell that to me to get rid of 2015 stock so that they don't have to sell it with huge discounts next month ?

I guess you have yourself answered your question. They are probably playing their cards on you as you have specifically mentioned that you want the car delivered by the 20th of this month. Threaten the SA that you want to cancel the booking and see what happens. But also remember that Verna petrol AT is not a fast seller in the market. Hence the shortage of colors!!

I did cancel the booking since I found another dealer who told me that he will order it from Hyundai, so whatever time it takes for delivery is the time that Hyundai will spend in sending the vehicle.

But the sales practices employed by Kothari Hyundai Pune are pathetic.

I hope this serves as a warning to buyers who get such stupid responses from Kothari Hyundai sales staff.

Hey guys.

I had loads of work this week, mainly because of the upcoming holidays. So I was leaving really early (6:30am) and hence had almost no traffic to encounter. Needless to say, I utilized this opportunity to see the max FE I could get out from the 1.6 VTVT Engine. Attached is a picture. 100% city driving. Home-Office-Home commute only.

That's a pretty decent FE for city driving !

I went for a 1000 km road trip (Mumbai- Panhala Kolhapur) during the "extended week-end" bet the 25th-27th. I was hoping for a FE of 14/15 on E-way & NH-4 but every single time i had a good run of an hour/hour & a half i was caught up either on the tolls or the maddening holiday crowd & whatever i'd gained was undone. The best peak i could get was 12/12.5. "Tolls" are great levellers !
The stretch between Pune to Satara was the worst, complete with diversions & holiday crowd. It took me 5 frustrating hours just for this stretch of 120kms.

Lesson learnt ; Never venture on a big week-end ! If at all one has to enjoy the journey, choose a off season /non holiday kinds period !

Thanks Nagesh. Your lesson learnt is absolutely correct. Toll queues last up to 30 minutes and completely destroy the F.E. figures you have tried maintaining till then. Last week I did a trip on the infamous Bangalore-Mysore Highway. It was as crowded as Bangalore city roads, if not more. The result, my trip of 320 odd kms gave an F.E. of 13.1

However, driving the 1.6 VTVT and feeling the rush of power, esp in 2nd and 3rd gears was addictive. That was another contributor to my low F.E but in the end, it was totally worth it.

New range for 2016. Loading it with features to attract City & Ciaz buyers till the new Verna comes in 2017.
What's commendable is that both the 2016 Verna & the i20 now have Dual airbags standard across the range. Step in the right direction!

http://www.autocarindia.com/auto-new...16-399418.aspx

From the Autocar Article:

"Hyundai has relaunched the Verna SX (O) trim for 2016. It comes with side and curtain airbags, leather seats, steering, gearknob and armrests. It also gets push-button start, telescopic steering, rain-sensing wipers, push-button start, chrome door handles and a 'Supervision' instrument cluster. The engine options are the 1.6-litre petrol and diesel. Only the diesel-powered SX (O) is offered with a four-speed automatic gearbox, along with four-wheel disc brakes."

Side & Curtain Airbags - check
Leather Seats - check
Leather wrapped steering, gear knob, armrest - check
Push-Button Start - check
Chrome Door Handles - check
Rain Sensing wipers - check
"Supervision" Cluster - check
1.6 Litre Diesel - check

Little confused here as my 2015 Verna Fluidic SX has all the features mentioned in the so-called 'new' SX(O) variant. Am I missing something here?

It is mentioned that SX(O) has disc brakes on all wheels. Was it there in the 2015 model?

Yes Autocar news article confirms this:

"Only the diesel-powered SX (O) is offered with a four-speed automatic gearbox, along with four-wheel disc brakes."

If the above is really true, its something pretty strange and so unlike Hyundai. The very reason they removed the 'All Round Disc Breaks' on Verna Facelift was to reduce the fishtailing of the car on high speed braking. So have they reworked on the chassis to sort this issue by giving All round disc breaks? Highly unlikely, considering this may only feature on the SX(o).

They are either contradicting their statement or are taking a risk by giving a feature as an eyewasher.

Seems like the competition in every segment is getting to the Korean giant !!

Ok, I read the article and here's what I understand from it.

1. Dual Airbags are now standard across all variants. GOOD
2. S(O) variant discontinued
3. SX(O) variant introduced above SX variant.
4. Features found in S(O) would now be available in SX
5. Features found in SX would now be available in SX(O). Eg - 6 air bags et al.
6. SX and SX(O) to get AVN and shark fin antenna. NICE !
7. Diesel SX(O) Auto gets all round Discs. GOOD.
8. SX Petrol can be bought with Auto gearbox, while SX(O) Diesel is available with Auto gearbox.

Though it seems to be a renaming exercise, and an inclusion of the AVN, I do hope the prices haven't shot up considerably.

Hi Guys

Just wanted some help with my Veran [2015 Fluidic with OEM Projector], I am not very happy with the headlights as I mostly do night driving. I use Philips Xtreme Vision on all my cars and bike hence want to change this on this car too.

Any idea what is the bulb spec for the main headlamps and the fog lamps as Would like to change both for the lights to look similar

Hello Friends , I took delivery of my Verna 1.6 vtvt petrol automatic today , since i have no experience of driving an automatic i hired a driver to bring her home and after she was parked pretty in the parking spot i tried to get a feel of her... I put her into "D" mode and released the break pedal gently and she just "surged" ahead without any accelerator input , is this normal ? An automatic should crawl not surge right ? When i tried the "R" position it was a much predictable "crawl" instead of the "surge" i felt in "D" mode. Should i be worried or is it just my ignorance ?
