Why is'nt the 90 hp Punto not featured?

I found it entirely different from the regular Punto's.

Please add those to this thread, or maybe a new thread would also do.

That's because at the time of the launch, and this test drive, there was no "90hp Punto". It was launched almost a year or so after the Punto came in, at which time it had only 3 engine options , 1.4FIRE, 1.2FIRE and 1.3MJD.

Also, at the time of launch among the petrol engines , the 1.2FIRE was available only on the Active variant, while 1.4FIRE was featured in the Dynamic, Emotion and Emotion Pack variants. Today the situation is opposite, ie 1.4FIRE is only available in the Emotion Pack variant. While the rest get the 1.2FIRE engine.

If you are having an EPack, take bumper to bumper cover. The premium is high but you will get full cover on plastic/rubber parts also.

My suggestion is spend time on websites of Bajaj Allianz/ICICI Lombard/TATA Aig in getting quotes. They are normally cheaper than any offline agent. Bajaj Allianz also gives 24x7 road side assistance for free if you pay using a credit card. Even if you dont want to buy online, you can use these quotes to negotiate with your dealer or local agent.

I paid around 8600 for 1st year renewal of my E+ MJD, IDV was more than yours. From Future Generali. I got a 50% discount on the OD section.

How are you paying more than me ?

Hi All,

I had left my Punto(Emotion MJD) for the 2nd Free Service with Prerana. The SA had given a rough estimate of Rs 6000. Wanted to know if this is the normal cost for 2nd service (15K kms).

I own Fiat Punto MJD. I covered 17k (in two years), gave my car for 3rd free service (2nd year) to Malik Cars, Hyderabad.

Service adviser gave me quotation of 10.5k for service. Is this acceptable cost for 3rd service of Punto.

Here is the rough breakup:

engine oil - 1700
oi filter - 350
fuel filter (with sensors) - 2000
A/C filter - 50
air filter - 300
gear oil - 1000
coolant - 1500
break oil - 400
brake pads - 2800
wheel alignment/wheel balancing: 650

PS.
I didnt find a thread which has information about service cost of Punto. Is it a good idea to start a separate thread to track how much each person has spend on their Punto service?

I think its on a very high side. I recently got my MJD Emotion serviced from Concorde Kochi - my bill was Rs. 7736. My car has done 45000+ kms, and this was the Fourth Service (First Paid service).

The bill was in the same range for my 30K service as well (The bill was actually around 10K, but that included replacing the left side ORVM, which had broken off).

Why are the brake pads being changed? Are they in very bad condition?
I got mine changed around 30K, and that was badly worn out. The SA said the new pads have longer life compared to the ones that came earlier.

I guess you need to change the Gear Oil because you've completed 2 years. Not sure of the Coolant. The rest are normal charged. (Wheel Balancing and Alignment is around Rs 400~450 here).

I guess thats the FIAT way to make money.

I had my brake disc and pads changed at 30K service - this was a little early as per the SA as there was another 8K life left in them - As I mostly do highway runs, i decided to change ! My guess is the ABS+EBD doing overtime without us realizing

The newer pads CANNOT have longer life than the OE ones IMO. The SA bluffs big time.

Also, w.r.t Fiat Punto, since the service intervals are 15K kms, it is a good practice to replace your engine oil, oil filter, diesel filter, air filter at EVERY service.

We live in a dusty country and our pollution levels are above par when compared to Europe.

There is no need for changing gear oil so soon ,I have driven my punto for 40000kms in one year and have not gone for changing the gear oil
Secondly ,ask a mechanic privately if the brake pads need replacement ,I think they are just inflating bills to rake moolahs.
Thirdly , as far as i remember ,ac pollen filter costed me Rs 100 not more ,so doubly check it
P.S.- The service advicers are hard pressed to inflate bills so its the discretion of the customers to decide whats needed and whats not

regards
Praveen
