I think it should be covered under warranty. IIRC, a friend of mine got his Swift wheel bearings changed under warranty. Check with the A.S.S. It should not fail so early.

For the last few days, I'm getting a "cling" sound from the back while going on bad roads. It's not from plastic, but a "metal" sound. I think it's coming from the rear suspension, but the noise is not always reproducible on the same bad road. Here's what I have tried so far:
- My brother and I tried to reproduce the noise when the car was parked by pressing down at the rear (after opening the boot) repeatedly - but there was no noise at all.
- I suspected the tool box, removed the tools from the rear and took a TD. The noise was still present.
- My spare wheel is unsecured in the boot, so it could be a reason. But I haven't yet taken a TD with the spare out of the car.

Any ideas what the noise could be?

It can also come due to loose link rod, please get it checked at the TASS.

No. Never.

I guess wheel bearings are a wear & tear part, do they cover that under warranty?

Secondly my car has aftermarket alloys, so will they entertain a warranty claim? Coming to that, can aftermarket alloys affect the wheel bearings?

doesnt your car have 100pcd alloys and fat rubber? i think i read that somewhere on the forum.. if yes then it could void your warrantly claim if any.. it could have also contributed to bearing wear IMO

No buddy.

My car has factory spec aftermarket alloys (98 PCD, 4 holes) with the same stock OE tyres.

then youre all good .. i have a feeling that there were a number of sub standard components on the punto. i just got my clutch slave cylinder changed last week at concord and am goin back this weekend to possible get the steering rack replaced under warrantly, the car pulls to the left like mad. no amount of reallignment has fixed that.

Check with them, as this friend of mine had 15" aftermarket rims with 205 section tyres on his Swift and they still replaced them under warranty.

IMO Wheel Bearings are not covered under warranty - It is under consumables and I doubt FIAT would do anything to change it!!

All the best anyways!

I met my cousin in a marriage function at Pondicherry two days back, who owns a FIAT Uno. He was thinking of upgrading to either i20 or Figo. He sought my suggestion. I suggested to him to include FIAT Punto in his list of probables, test drive all the cars in his list, and then, decide. I explained to him about the salient features of 2012 Punto like enhanced GC of 185 mm [in diesel versions], improved interiors and the new Oceanic Blue colour. When I was driving back to Bangalore in the night, I received his call stating that he test drove all the cars and booked a 2012 Punto Dynamic with Manakular Motors, Pondicherry with ETA of 20 days. He said the new features tilted his choice in favour of Punto!

Gents , Need your advice

Although Punto comes with a Engine immobilizer and Low sale value of punto is a Added advantage at least , when it comes to thefts, Some where I am getting pretty wary of thieves . What all steps i can take to secure the car if broken into. I have a emotion variant and even if car is locked and somebody tries to fiddle with car, there is no alarm . Kindly advice
