With age rubber does harden/wear out hence it best to change it proactively.

If Fiat isn't willing to give the deals OTC you can look at Maruti for spares depending on the engine you have. For 75HP you can try from Swift or Ritz. For 90HP look at parts from Ertiga or SX4.

Not sure if parts will actually match. If they do then fine.

Well, given the number of gaskets and seals in any modern day car, how much does one go about changing ?

I'm somewhat hesitant of making changes unless there's a problem , don't want to introduce a leakage or another problem with the change. Good FIAT mechanics are hard to find, sourcing parts can also be a headache. Besides, googling suggests that oil leakage from the driveshaft on the gearbox side is more common for really old cars ( 15+years) .

So I'm still in two minds as to whether I should follow his advice in replacing it.

EDIT : He did tell me to get the OE seals, so anything else maybe a problem.

I agree that's why I said proactively and for peace of mind. It is your call completely.

If you don't have trust in these mechanics then just get the clutch changed at the ASC. Whenever in future you notice the drive shaft oil leakage then change it.

Dear Fellow Punto owners,

My car is Punto 90Hp and it has a strange issue. The left central vent throws warm air compared to the right central vent. The issue is being discussed in detail here http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...ide-vents.html (Air-con: Center vents throwing out warmer air than side vents?).

After doing a lot of investigation, issue was solved if I run the AC without Pollen Filter, but issue has come back after installing the Pollen Filter. I am guessing a design fault with the Pollen Filter.

If your Punto (Not Evo) got the Pollen Filter replaced after Jan 2015, can you do a quick check, if the left central vent is throwing warmer air than the right central vent with the ACC's temperature set at 24 C. It would be a great help in my investigation and struggle to get my Punto boy fixed.

Thanks,
Sai

I saw your thread, did you try using the wire mesh pollen filter, which was introduced by fiat during 2012-2014?

Akshay, Fiat is not supplying the wire mesh filter and it is not available in open market too. I have procured a cabin filter from a company called ZIP, i will go to Vecto tomorrow fit the new filter and see if issue is resolved or not.

Hello Fellow Punto Owners,

Issue on my 75HP 2009 Punto Emotion. ODO: 83,000 Kms.

I was at 120KMPH on a highway when I stopped accelerating for a sec and then hit the pedal to get back but there was no throttle response at all. Felt a heavy loss in power and acceleration. Though speed was maintained, I could not gain more instantly, as if there was a huge power lag. only 10% acceleration was detected. Nothing on downshifting either. I thought it was a turbo failure but later found this thread !
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...n-issue-3.html (Fiat Linea (1.3 MJD EP) Acceleration Issue!!!).
This issue has been faced by many Linea owners. The car recovers to normal after being restarting.

I have driven 100 KMS on highway later on and 50Kms in the city and the issue has not resurfaced. Everything seems to be normal now !

Are there any fellow Punto owners here who have faced the similar issue?

I am planning on a long drive in the near future. How do you guys advise me to proactively resolve this issue?

PS: I have been observing a sound lately, around the 1000-1500 RPM range in 1-3 Gears with AC usually. The sound seems like something is opening up in the throttle for a short rpm range (a growl like sound, as if it is running on a K&N Filter) .. vanishes below 2K RPM and sounds normal later on. Dont know if this is anyhow related to the above issue.

........
Sai,

Leaving the filter aside, how warm is the air? is it slightly warmer than the right central vent?

If so, this might be the work of ACC to maintain the set cabin temperature. Sometimes the AC flow will will even shift to lower vents automatically if cabin is cool enough. I have observed this in my 2009 punto.

I've generally observed this on cold nights, when say the MID shows 19 deg and i maintain 23 deg on the ACC.

Got the clutch changed from the ASC ( Vecto ) today and it feels so better ( touchwood). The grinding noise while engaging reverse has gone, as well as the hardness.

I have to confess that FIAT is improving ! Their labor charges were 2500 + 12.3% tax. I checked at 2 FNGs and they quoted 2K and 3K respectively, so finalized on FASC.

I have a 2009 November registered Fiat Grande Punto MJD and have done about 50500 KMS only/ I am having two problems which are not getting solved.
There is a rattling noise from the boot (nothing loose floating ) this comes only when the vehicle is moving and not in idling. second is my USB every time i try to use the steering mounted control to skip a song or go to the next song the system stops playing even though the display shows the song title etc. three trips to the service station to reset have only resulted in the problem recurring every time i try the steering mounted controls.
Looking for help please

Pune guys,

A new fiat dealership has opened by the name Jayvijay motors. Any first hand experiences with them? Planning to take my Punto for the 30k Km service to them.

Hi,

Is the rattling coming from the rear parcel tray? Just try to adjust it and see. Also at times the rear seat belt buckles in my car hits the door trim while driving causing a rattling sort of sound. Just check.

Thank you Vibbs,
I have also zeroed the problem to the parcel tray only if I lift it up the rattle stops. I shall try adjusting the parcel tray and check. Thanks

They, are the biggest buggers about.

FIAT -> MSIL -> Renault -> (Something else, perhaps) -> Again, FIAT.

They're not new FIAT dealers. Less than a decade ago, they were also FIAT dealers. Nothing special. They change brands with such a high frequency that.....

I'm sure even they don't know which brand of cars they sell.

Who in the right mind will quit a Renault dealership (atleast the Duster sells), and will go for FIAT? None, right? Yet, they seem to be doing a decent job as a dealer.

Actually we Puneri's have multiple choices for FIAT Dealers, no?

(3 in all, I think)

At Jay-Vijay, when I was seeing the Avventura, I just asked the mileage. For the FIRE; Not the MultiJet. As you shall very well know; the FIRE is not a good mileage giver. Gives useless mileage. Useless.

I popped the question. Their response :

Sir; you will get around 22-23 in HWY's, and 18ish in the city
.

Honestly; who were they trying to fool? They might've mixed up mileage data for the FIRE and the MJD.

One of those little rubber bits might be missing.

Actually; we Maruti owner's face a new rattle everyday.

IMHO; You shouldn't worry. There's better things to do, no?

Is it something that you have personally experienced, with a FIRE ? I am fairly certain you have not and I could be wrong as well!

I have a 1.2 FIRE, and let the pics do the talking.

This is today morning, on the way to work, clicked before I read your post as is evident from the timestamp. I click each time it crosses 20kmpl! Is it bad? Not at all for a 1150kg powered by 1.172 at 68horses! Mixed traffic, horrible roads, cruise speed 65 in empty stretches, no AC. The long term 2000 km mileage shown too, 30% AC, 50 50 city highway.

The Avventura will be worse, of course, due to its higher capacity and higher weight and all, but not in the way you choose to portray it. Sorry, I have to protest. Playing with FIRE...!!! It all depends on how you ride your horses!

If knowledgeable forum members, start "stamping" cars just for the sake of it, I doubt if it enriches the forum, really.

The CR2032 battery in the flip key remote lasted for 5.5 years and went dead yesterday. Replaced it at a local watch store for 70 bucks and it worked fine again.

Hi Sai,

I am facing the similar issue after changing the pollen filter, the passenger side central vent gives hot air when I set the temperature to 23 - 24 deg C. This was not happening earlier.

However, I am not sure what is the solution. It so happened in my case that the AC stopped cooling after the service (after replacing the pollen filter) and I had to shell out around 8K to get my evaporator coil fixed .
