hi all..
i hav done 700 kms on my sx4.
till now havent crossed 3000 rpm
max speed reached is 95 kmph..
but used to giv some bursts in between at 2.5 to 3k.
till now every thing s workin fine..
had a plan to change oil at 100 but that time the oil was not available with the dealers...
The engine oil given by maruti for first change in sx4 is semisynthetic (0w30).so would it help in running in???
also can i change the oil to synthetic after 5000 kms (coz by that timei would hav completed driving with semisynthetic for 4000 km)??

Hi Libis

Go fully synthetic at 10,000 (and not 5000). You are using semi-synthetic in the meanwhile anyway.

HI,
It seems you are not having a tachometer. In that case only thing you can do is to guess it from the sound of the car. Experienced drivers can almost say it correctly. There are tachometers available which can be fixed additionally, search for threads discussing abot it.

My maruti service center told me that I dont need to go thru the running in thing on my MPFi Alto...I can drive it anyway I want to as it came "seasoned" from the factory...is that true...I have done about 100+ about a few time (say about 3- times) since I bought it...but I dont rev it suddenly or dont accelerate suddenly...and have done about 800kms till date...I'm really concerned

Yes you still need to RUN-IN, its all right that all new engines now a days are made to run on TEST RIG for few hours, & then fitted on vehicle on assy. line. After that few more Kms are done on test track.

But that is not sufficient for parts to set into the right working tolerances. Always follow the owner's manual for Running-In Instructions.

Sometines there is a sticker provided on windshield(like TATA does), you can always stretch it out after oil change & service. why to take chances?
