On a serious note, doing it in a cool place itself is a logical reason. Apart from what you outlined, even i dont know of any other logical reason.

I always do it in a shade/shelter and when i take it out in the sunlight. My, my, the shine leaves a gleam in my eyes too

Plus it helps to dry up polish fast, making it almost impossible to remove.

there are certain spots on my widnscreen which stay wet and translucent when wiper runs. once dried they are clear.

Is it something that needs to be cleaned with special cleaners? i have cleaned my windscreen multiple times with various cleaners.

I went for 3m Perfect car polish. The results are good. Its done by hot tracks in Old madras road, bangalore for 2900 rupees. Would recommend it.

As I read through the thread there appears to be a lot of problem associated with hard water. In the locality where I live the water is hard (very very hard I guess ). Can someone please suggest a cost effective way of removing this hardness before washing cars and all?

There are 2 types in that.
1. Fitted on a single tap costs around 4K.
2. Fitted on a overhead tank, costs 12k for 2 filters (depends on the volume of the tank)

very effective, but the problem is the we need to backwash every 2-3 days to clear out the waste water which it filtered.

If you havent negotiated along with your car purchase, its not worth it getting it done from dealer as they charge about 3K or so. You can get it done from outside for half the price. Usually teflon and underbody rust coat is advised for smoother finish ( teflon) and anti-rust ( chassis).
