Yes black is THE best IF you have the time & patience to maintain it regularly (you'll have to get used to it looking dusty just minutes after you've wiped it clean!)....

Gogi Paai,

Congrats on the new baby ! As for the color, you could go brown as someone suggested. A nice glossy dark brown or else a nice deep blue. Maroon would be ok I think and silver is a strict no-no.

Great to hear you are getting the car restored. I have a '61 W111 220Sb which I'm currently fixed into top shape. I have had some work done on the front suspension, changing the front suspension mounts and also throwing out the old matador engine and replacing with a 240D engine. I was running around for a few days trying to decide on the paint color. I'm probably going to setlte on "Mercedes Blue" or Blue Grey, as these colors nicely offset the chrome. I'm attaching a link to a color chart which you may find useful. All the best and let us know how it comes along

Mercedes-Benz Ponton Paint Codes / Color Charts

Cheers
Boban
Thanks Boban, whatever happened to the original engine?

That car is with a dealer in Delhi who specialises in offerinf cars he does not even have (i know because he had once offered my car for sale with pics). I let him have it for that. There is a consortium of such fakers in delhi specially, who offer the same car. These guys raise the prices of such cars to unimaginable heights and bugger the market. Hes offering the car for a ridiculous amount. I called him and died laughing when he quoted me the price of the two cars he had advertised. I told him i just wanted the car and not the garage where it was parked in

the guy also claims to have a mercedes 110series 190d 62 model. i had gone to the guy to see a m3 but besides the photo the car was not there.i had inquired for a few other car and the prices quoted was worth a laugh. ishaan and vishaal had similar experience with this guy.
there should be an authentic market place to buy these beauties.

The only place to buy these beauties is from the owners themselves, if you can get to them that is!! Sadly a lot of them will still see the scrap dealer!!

some of the owners detroy the cars saying we have a sentimental bond with the car. and it is later sent to the scrapper. i think we should keep people to inform us at the scrapper. we should ask VCCCI to keep a record of the cars city wise and if cars are to be sold they should be informed. what say you?
