My reply in BOLD

Pawan's responses are all over the place and not really addressing any of the issues in particular

Pls address the so called issues Mr Vijay.

From what I see in the posts, looks like automannj did get a raw deal. Which definitely goes against the spirit of the forum.

Do you really know how the entire deal went through?

Lets not reply for the sake of it without knowing the History

My tuppence - purely based on what I have read on this thread.

MR Kalyan Kindly clarify

Ooh , some one is taking things personally.

I have been very clear that my thoughts are based on what I have read on the thread so far.

Dont send me PMs asking me to keep my nose out of your business. You are the one who made it public in the first place.

Take a chill pill guys. I don't see why you guys are .

Let the people involved(read as Ryan and Automannj) in the transaction sort it out. Pavan was merely an enthusiast involved in the restoration of this bug. We'll wait until automannj sorts this out with Ryan and posts the update here.

Here is the story on my beetle, originally it had a 1300 engine which was removed because it was not performing well. Then it was fitted with a 1500 engine (Ryan confirmed that is what I have now).
To match the book and to smoothen the transfer procedure, 1500 engine# is scraped off the stand and original 1300 engine # has been printed in its place.

So it is a 1500 cc engine with engine number of the 1300 cc one?

Punching the old engine to the replacement engine on a car is very normal. And infact, I feel you're lucky to get a good 1500 engine.
Enjoy the extra power from the 200 cc.

i completely disagree and it is illegal, there is an option of changing the Engine Number from RTO and get it endorsed on the RC book.

Though the ideal thing to do, is a pain in reality. Especially if one is approaching with an old car, as in this case.

Guys.

When the seller and the Buyer is happy and are not bothering to clear the air on the forum, Why should there be an arguments and counter arguments over this issue.

I am again reitrating.

LETS NOT ARGUE OVER A THREAD WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT KIND OF DEAL THE BUYER OR SELLER WAS INTO.

Jaggu,

I agree that almost 80% of classics or vintages in the world have got a punched engine number, and yes they are common.
