| hey guys thanks for the appreciation, the car is 4 cyl 1600cc column shift 4 +1 gear pattern vehicle, it was purchased from nairobi in 66 by a sikh gentle man and was driven there for a couple of years when the owner shifted to india and brought the vehicle along with, he then immigrated to uk and garaged the car at his native house near Jallandhar,Punjab,India, the car was garaged carefully and the radiator was drained every time he went,he used to drive the car when ever he came to India after 3-4 years, finally the old man passed away and his son shifted the car on road side and used the garage to park his maruti 800, i spotted the car and the deal stuck ,as he was no more intrested to drive the old lady, i was surprised to see the condition ,there was a lot of spares ,along the car including a clutch ,pressure plate, head gasket some sealed beams etc, some of the spares being of metal were sold off to scrap dealer by there servant and glass and gaskets etc were remaining which he passed on to me along the car,the service booklet is also there in the car with 2 free service coupens still intact as he shifted the car to india before they were used,it also has a workshop manual with details and dates hand written as for what all maintainence or repair work that he had done along with mechanics name and contact no .....will ipload these pics on monday, another intresting part is an emergency light made by toyota japan that has a socket in the glove box and works very well all the meters and function are perfectly working and the glove box has light that lits when it is opened ,the function which our present day toyota innova lacks..ha ha ,Thanks again |

| Thanks so much for posting those photos! This 1966 Corona brought back memories of my childhood in the 70s. Dad had purchased a Toyota Corona Mk2 (powered by a 1700CC engine in 1971/72) whilst we were in Nigeria. I will try and dig out some old photos of that car Dad had an Austin (cant remember the model) Standard Herald and Fiat 1100D in India in the 50s and '60s. We returned to India in the mid 70s and sold the Corona in 1977. It was a LHD car in immaculate condition and was purchased by a Gujarati gentleman staying at Marine Drive. Dad quit the IN and joined the Merchant Marine. He avoided purchasing a car till the late 80s. 2 Premier Padminis followed till 1995 after which we went in for an MS Esteem. He has been driving a Palio 1.6 GTX since Feb 2002. ![]() The Corona Mk2 is where my love affair with cars started. Helped Dad clean the car every weekend. My Altis is the 3rd Toyota in the family spanning a period of nearly 40 years. Cheers! |

| Senior - BHPian | Hi, I had this for about 18 months or so in 1981-1982. I remember it as a 1969 model. A 3 speed column shift transmission and no AC. Used to give 10kpl. ![]() Lovely memories associated with this car.

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | Fantastic Corona Gill Saab! Khush Keeta!! I can say without doubt that this is one of the best restored Coronas of the era i have ever seen. I remember my Uncle had a red one i Delhi a few years ago. That one was probably a 1972-3 but was equally jaw dropping good. He sold it and i was cross with him for years for not having told me. These old Jap cars have an element of bling to them without being Kitschy. That is the quality i love. Please post pics of your other cars as well. Im sure we all would love to see them.

| I recollect A Nageshwar Rao the Telugu actor who was my neighbour had a similar car in red. It was his personal ride for ages and was one of two such cars in Hyderabad in those days. I am sure others have also seen this |
