Must admire his dedication, i loved his follow-up and dedication, Thanks for all this Nirmal, you have done a fab job on giving the car the best it deserves.

After the car was delivered, Avinash (ace_hillman) was desperate to finish the detailing work come what may, Mid night calls, mid afternoon calls, Early morning calls exchanged between me, Nirmal and Avinash to sync up a proper time to do the detailing work, since Avinash was US bound and he wanted to see the final outcome before he goes.

Thankfully Nirmal reached Avinash's house Tuesday Early morning and started his magic, here few pics to tell the story. will upload some more later after re-sizing it.

Seriously.. What a finish man.. Its absolutely top of the class..

It was indeed a pleasure to work on such cars and car owners.

Avinash is so engrossed with the car that he's not even finding time to update this thread on T-BHP ( He's now just settling down in the US )

Some more pics for you guys...

There is a little bit of work still pending though they are of not that big an importance, will do it after i attend to other seriously waiting projects.

All in all. ULTIMATE DETAILERZ have indeed lived upto their name, Thanks again Nirmal

The detailing job has made the car a concours one. Great job done by Nirmal. The reflection says it all. Detailing on a new paint job will increase the life of the paint for sure and i hope the car's kept covered .
Thanks for sharing the pics Pavan ji. Hope to see more of this on your other restoration projects too.

Yes indeed, Nirmal - ULTIMATE DETAILERZ have done a fab job, there is one more coat of treatment thats needed in the next 2 weeks as per the package, that will be done to finally seal off the paint job.

Sadly Avinash (ace_hillman) is at U.S on his project and i feel sad he's not able to enjoy the car for sometime to come, anyways, the car got transformed and i am happy.

Channagidhe! The transformation is amazing! For this, am willing to even ignore my un-favourite colour WHITE!

Now I hope the final 'ULTIMATE DETAILING' is done too- getting the numberplates in the CORRECT STENCIL FONT, which is fortunately still done in Bengaluru!

Well Done Pavan, good turn around.

There are two holes on the bumper, were fog lights fitted earlier? Any plans to close those holes or alternatively do you have any other ideas?

Cheers

Those would be for the bumper OVERRIDERS. He says they were rather rusty hence not fitted (yet)

Correct saar, next set of photos of this car will have certain upgrades.

1) A little bit of Beige treatment on the rear dickey door.
2) Stencil / Embossed period number plates
3) Front bumper over-riders (Rear one needs to be sourced)
4) Final detailing by ULTIMATE DETAILERZ

Time to update this thread.

The ORIGINAL sidevalve engine is getting ready

The stuff that we got from UK was unbelievable.

No one could imagine getting FRESH NOS spares this car.

Hi Pavan, Fantasic restoration job done. Interesting to see ongoing engine work. Does the engine have same specifications parts (Pistons, rings) for model from 1935 to 1948 for Hillman Minx. Write how you are procuring Hillman parts, it is availble in India or you are importing from UK?

Cheers!

All the spares are procured from UK

There has been 0% compromise with the restoration so far, so we've decided to go CONCURS with the ORIGINAL engine too.

Within a few days the car should be 100% ready in its ORIGINAL condition

The Minx looks too elegant with all the beautiful body work. The chrome and paint look fresh. Now the British mechanical spares are in the waiting. I felt there should be a Hillman showroom in the vicinity, as the car appears like it has just left the showroom. Would like to quote Raj Kumar's dialogue from Pakeezah- "aapke paav (read tyres) bade sundar hain, inhe zameen par mat rakhiega, maile ho jayenge".

Sir, Thank you very much for the appreciation

Well, almost every spare required for the Sidevalve engine has reached me as on date... Only waiting for the Timing chain and the Tensioner, which is in Transit.

Since Avinash is in the US, and the car was not started since the last 3 months, i wanted to start it and check if there was any issues, I go to the car, open the door, insert the key and CRANK ... The engine spurs to life

It was such a joy, i wanted to take it out for a short drive, but had a meeting to attend and also, one idiot in the neighborhood took offense to the noise ( Which basically is NON EXISTENT when the engine starts... Did not want to get into an arguement, i covered the car and left.

Will probably drive it home sometime next week, Its better at home than where it is now.

Its a true testimony to a wonderful restoration job you did on it,no wonder it came to life immediately without any fuss.
Hope to see the work commencing on the original side valve engine soon. Thanks for sharing the update.
