Recently went on a jolly ride along with few like minded FIATIANS from Coimbatore to Yercaud, a hill station about 250 km from Coimbatore. To our surprise it was a mind blowing 550 km drive to an fro and 2 days of fun. The cars just did fine up the hills of about 35 km with 21 steep hairpin bends.

My Millecento was so smooth up the hills and was so happy that my engine had set in so well after the recent complete engine overhaul. I had practically changed everything in the engine. The Pistons, rings, camshaft, crank shaft, all bearing, valves. The engine was rebored and the entire clutch assembly with plates was changed. The differential pinion wheels and bearings was also changed.

The entire spares that I had mentioned above was all new. Thank god I was able to procure all of them here in Coimbatore. Some spares like cam shaft, crank shaft and Pistons, my mechanic late Mr. Adhinarayanan had in stock with him, all new in their original packs. Iam really thankful to him for that.
Over a period of 1 year, after my engine work we both did about 2000 km of flat drives before I took it up the hills to Ooty for the vintage rally held in June.

It was such a pleasant drive to Yercaud that now we have decided to make it a regular affair. Our next drive is to Mysore, again about 250 km from Coimbatore. Seriously looking forward to it.

Few pictures of the recent Yercaud drive. Thank you.

Thanks Anand h14,

That's was one hell of a memorable drive up the Valparai hills. What makes it more fun and enjoyable is the people with whom you drive with.
Thanks to all like minded fiatians who made the drive a memorable one.

Dr. Kannant,

Awesome pictures. Ooty and surrounding areas are real fun to drive. Your car still looks awesome.

Thank you Mr. Manishalive,

It wasn't Ooty by the way, this is another small hill town called Valparai about 200 km from Coimbatore. Awesome place with beautiful roads. One has to drive up the hill to enjoy the nature and the beauty it beholds.

Regards

Dr. kannan

Hi TBHPians,

It's been a very long time since I checked on you all. Hope all are doing fine along with their respective automobile beauties.

Over the last one, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge.

In late 2016 my car had a complete engine overhaul done. Changed all the major parts in the engine and in the differentials. By now I think I should have covered more 5000 km post the engine overhaul. She's just doing fine and the engine has set in well.

My car once again picked up an award in the 2017 Ooty vintage car rally, for the 4th consequent year. Did about three long drives averaging about 500 km per drive to two hill stations, Valparai & Yercaud and the recent drive to Karaikudi about 700 km to & fro.
Karaikudi is a heritage town on its own rights. I had been there to take part in a heritage car show called the " Chettinad Heritage Car Show " conducted there for the first time.

Posting few pictures of my car taken during my last drive to Karaikudi.

And about what's in store for 2018, planning to pick up another vintage beauty for restoration !
Will keep you guys posted once things kick off.

Till then wish you all A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR & Wish you all a fabulous and wonderful year ahead
