Hi!

Going thru this thread, I'm happy to see so many fans of the Pointed Star and vintage cars in general.

My fancy is the Merc 190D W201 - Baby Merc, and someday I hope to own one. I'm based in bangalore, and would love to hear of any good 190D available for sale.

I'm new to the used cars market, and would appreciate some inputs on how much to pay for a 190D in good condition.

Ok time to bring this thread to life again.
Why did it take so much time...well the guy was sick, then someone in his family got married, etc, etc.

The tin works complete, the engines out and being done. The new suspension parts and mountings (engine, gear box and sub frame) are all procured.
The under body and engine bay including the fire wall, will undergo the anti-rust treatment throughly.
Wurth, im thinking.

You got it Ajmat. Thank God I have a good Mech. even my 200 Heckflosse has the same carb.

Sorry Manikjeet. yes there are updates but everytime i have visited the garage, either my phone was low on battery or I was not carrying the camera. Ill post pics and updates soon. By the way, the cars being painted Black. The engine bay etc is done and the tin work, obviously is finally finished.

Thanks. No i have not chromed the engine parts as the originals are in Aluminium Only need to buff them and they will be as good as new....I hope

No guys nothing like that. Was busy with some work and then my guy was not well. Also had to source a lot of parts. Its a full restoration and the tin work is finally finished. This was a very very corroded car. The engine is now ready as is the suspension and the mounts.
The colour chosen is solid black and the engine bay has already been painted with teh first coat. Now what remains is the final sanding and finishing o fthe body and the car should be ready to paint in a week. The interiors are going to be Tan MB-Tex which im at the moment sourcing.
The car was non power steering and we have found a donor in a near junk W123 series. So with minor changes, we should be able to fit the donor cars power steering in the 115.

Smart move to install power steering, a world of a difference it makes too. My dad used to have the 1970 230, the 6 cylinder twin carb model and it was a lovely car.
I have some original maps, service centre booklets and dealer network maps/booklets that were supplied new with the car. I have no use for them and if you are interested I can arrange to be sent to you.
As for the Strombergs being a pig to tune the only advice which I can pass on to you is make sure they are not overfilled, too many are tempted to overfill them, and this will always give you a flatspot while acclerating.
Weber are offering a conversion, though I do not know how well they work.

Hi Gogi Bhai - The restoration progress looks great so far. If you are placing an order for Tan MBTex, could you please include another set of upholstery sheets for me - I am going to put tan in my W110 as well. Also, could you provide more details on the power steering retro fit? I may be interested in doing this as well. As always thanks for your support and guidance.
