Sir..

They are White wall INSERTS... Actually fits very well on cross ply tyres and normal radial, but i have oversize Radials and the rear camber on my car is slightly Negative.... Once i set it right, the creases will set in.

Need to do that once my mechanic finds time.

Hey Kadam, the Beetle looks simpally perfect man! When time permits do show me this Beetle. I can feature it in Fifth Gear or Top Gear. You decide.

The 15 inch white wall inserts costed Rs.2000/- for a set of 4.

They fit really well on cross ply and normal Radial tyres.

OTOH.... I have been trying to get the period looking Number plates for the car......Anyone can suggest me please...

That is Talcum powder sirjee.

Actually its a good practice to clean off all the rubber parts on the car after every service with Talcum powder.

Finally after a FULL DAY of work on the car today, the Bug came home by evening to the joy of everyone at home.

Well, the merits of using Talcum powder on rubber parts were precisly explained by someone somewhere here on the forum.....

Let me look up and post the link.

Sorry Sagar,

Work and resto's had taken too much of my time.

OK, will explain the Best and the easiest painting procedure.

Painting procedure on a SCRAPED Body Shell

1) Shine the metal on the body shell, you can also use paint remover liquid for deep cleaning.

2) Apply Etching primer on the scraped and dry surface, and let it dry overnite

3) Sand it with 1000 grit sand paper, only to get a smooth surface.

4) Check the body line and the body surface for undulations and dinges.

5) Apply 3M body filler to cover up only the undulations and later sand it down using may be 500 grit or lower as preferred by painter.

6) Once you are certain that the body surface and the body line is perfect, sand down the entire body shell with 1000 grit sand paper again.

7) Apply Dupont 888 or equivalent surfacer.

8) Sand it down with 2000 grit sand paper and again check for Undulations, if you see some, re-do step 5,6 & 7.

9) If you or your painter is sure, the body surface is good to go, check small spots and cover it up with Dupont Tube Patti and dull it with 2000 grit sand paper.

10) On the smooth surface, apply the base coat paint and dull it again using the smoothest sand paper available.

11) Clean the surface with Dupont Tac Cloth and start spraying final coats of paint.

12) Let it dry for the next GOOD 48 HOURS.....

13) If needed, use gloss rubbing compound and silicon polish to get the best finish

Hope this helps......
