Default 1959 Morris Mini Woody

This car used be owned by me a few years back. I had it with me for a few years and sold the same. Pictures of the car taken when we had attended one of the Bangalore Rally's. The car has since changed hands again (Current owner is a BHPian too) who told me that it has to be worked upon to get it into running condition. Hopefully this car will be gracing Bangalore Roads again. Great looker she was.....

This is how we started the restoration project

What lovely pictures! I've always had a soft spot for woodies and remember having seen Landmaster woodies in Bangalore, many many years back. Of course, there were ones that got away, including an original Morris 1000 Traveler for Rs. 25000/-, which I couldn't afford at that time! Yes, I've picked up the Mini Traveler mentioned by KPS. Its painted dark blue now and awaiting final cosmetic touches and some mechanical work with the clutch. The difference between the Landmaster and Morris Travellers and the Mini Traveller is that in the former two, the wood is load bearing and part of the structure. Thus any damage to it can cause body distortion. In the Mini, the wood is just fitted onto the van body and has no structural role to play. All look lovely, though!

I was glad when I heard that Tonrag had bought this car. Now we will surely get to see this car on the roads. We had imported tail lights, park lights, bonnet monogram, winged mirrors ,indicator switch and cover. We had the workshop manual which, which we have been searching. Tonrag, if I find it, you be will be the first to get it as a gift form my Dad.

Congrats once again Tonrag

Cheers

If I remember right, the end of the stalk carried a bulb that would flash when the indicator was activated. An identical unit is fitted to my Standard 10s, and Im sure to more British cars of the era.

Karlos and KPS, I'm touched! Will surely drive down to Pune once the car is ready to thank Karlos in person. KPS, both you, and your parents can have a ride whenever you want! We really had a problem with the rubber suspension. It was too hard. So I got coil spring suspension parts from Sri Lanka. Now the whole thing wallows like a boat - too soft! Can't wait to get her running and then open up on the Madras road. Nothing like a long drive to sort out any glitches in a car. Hopefully, she should be ready in a couple of weeks.

Hehe, then target middle of March, for the rally in Bombay. Or a rally in Pune is expected a month later.

And are there any others around??
Jay I saw the same yesterday at the same place and the car lacks the orginality but still it rocks , the snaps are in the thread of classics in travancore cochin and malabar
