Its very sad to see just how bad this Bay window has rotted away snce i first saw it around 5 years ago when it would have been a much easier restoration.

How about this one? Wonder how someone can keep a gem like this in such a sorry state.

Yes Unfortunatly not everyone shares our views on these wonderful old classics, This particular one was a splitscreen panel van when it left the factory and now has had a bay window front screen and side windows cut into it,making a renovation much more costly to a new owner. Much the same as this one in Goa with the side windows.

Hi. This is.about 40 or more years back I was studying at Fr.Agnel Tech High School Bandra in maybe 6th standard. The school in those days used to get heavy aid in form of money and other thing as powder milk, food items etc for the poor students of the school. Once we saw a VW bus brand new one being driven by priest of the church, it was white in colour.
This van was maintained by them in proper manner initially later they started neglecting it and was repaired by any tom dick and harry mechanic from technical college dept. It was in pathatic condition when I left school after my SSC. I have never seen it after that GOD ONLY KNOWS WHERE THAT BEAUTY HAS GONE

OH Good GOD,

Sad to see such ghastly pics

If only God grants me those rotting beauties( all of the rotting ones ) and some money, I'll put them back to its original glory

Its really heartbreaking to see such rare VW's rotting away.

It appears to be more like a 1965/66 one as the decklid does not have the square at the numberplate light which was the case for 67 bug.

Were 66 models available with this wheel and wheelcap combo? Im not sure. I would place it at 65 and earlier, subject to correction. Ofcourse, most Goa cars have many bits and pieces interchanged with other models.

It really is amazing how when you want something bad enough the whole world conspires to make it happen.

As Ram said - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/1299484-post39.html

Look what a dear friend sourced for me - genuine NOS (VW and part number stamped) door handles correct for 1956. Plus brand new original correct SG profile Huff key, matching numbers. What more could I ask for? They will go on the car during phase 2 of restoration.

Oh plenty is still to be done. Bumpers and wheelcaps to be chromed, interior is to be totally redone, original grooved window rubbers with trim to be sourced and fitted, tail lights to be sourced, dash switches etc. Plus some paint touch ups and a good rubbing. Interiors etc are long term plans though.
