Super - I love this kind of Trivia!

A small mention on Citroen's fabled suspension too, might not be amiss here!
The first car in the world I think, to have hydraulic suspension!
Amazing!

Thanks a ton Shankar !!

Citroen was also the first to mass produce a front wheel drive car. And to mass produce a monocoque body car.

Pavan !! This is just awesome
Please do keep giving more updates on this 'Camionnette', for us hungry souls !

Just cant express how i was feeling after seeing this car

The design might be skeptical , but the practicality of this very automobile is just fantastic.

As per me and my mechs views,What the car needs right now.

1) Some good 15 inch tyres, that are very small and thin
2) Right front fender needs a little tinkering and painting
3) Front grille needs a little attention to get that Plush fit
4) Citreon logo on the dash to be ultafied
5) Brakes overhaul
6) Engine flush,oil change, tuning
7) Complete car clean-up
8) Seats upholstery (though they are just jump seats with barely any cushioning, Its just a small layer of foamed rexine over springs )
9) A good detailing cosmetically

Rest all, the car is just impeccably Original.

Citroen designed and built the steering gear on the R.M.S Titanic.
In 1928, CitroŽn introduced the first all-steel body in Europe (no wooden bracing or floors).

Some Boy!

Yes it appears almost unused. Why was this vehicle not used?
And why is it called an ambulance? What equipment did it carry, any stretchers? If, then they would have had to be a foldable variety.
Maybe it was just a medical van carrying medicines and equipment.

Cheers harit

Sir,

Thanks for dropping by here

Mr Sheriff is a kind of person who loves to adore his collection than use them, and dont be surprised to see his other cars in the collection, which too are extremely Original , and in the same kind of PERIOD BUBBLE STORAGE

Yes, as u say, it must be a medical van carrying medicines and equipment. There is a Sterilization box at the back of the Citreon, which is a clear indication of this car being used for medical purpose.

Will post some clear Hi-Resolution pics once the car is pulled out from there.

Bangalore had a few. We too owned a Dyna which we sold on to a KVCCC member.

One of the regular pair of 2CV's in KVCCC rallies were that of Dr. Kumarswamy. These cars had history as they were driven from Kuwait to India. Dr. Kumarswamy escaped the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq by driving out both the cars, out of Kuwait with there belongings.

Dr. Kumarswamy was regular at all the KVCCC rallies and was well liked. Tragedy struck him a few years back. One morning, whilst washing his regular modern car on the road, in front of his house a biker crashed into him and it was a "hit & run". The biker was never found but Dr. Kumarswamy was badly injured and is now is completely bed ridden.. I understand that one of the two cars have been sold and the family retains only one car. We all feel for Dr. Kumarswamy and his family and we miss them in KVCCC events.

Here is the picture of the car that what Dr. Kumarswamy used to drive to the rallies

Here is a picture of Dr. Kumarswamy with Doc as they admire cars at Mysore during the Dassera Rally

Hi,

I had the pleasure of talking to Dr.Kumar on several occasions as he used to frequently visit the petrol pump opposite my house and would often smile and say hello whenever we saw each other.

I was also invited to his home/hospital where he had an extensive collection of books and other material related to the 2CV. He was a die hard fan of this car and his loyalty was justified with the way the car had actually stood by him in his 14000 kms (from what i remember) drive from Kuwait to Bangalore. Here is another picture which i took in a rally in 2006.

regards,

Srinand.

There were a few panel vans that got auctioned from Osmania University in the mid ninties andyone knows what happened to them.

They must have been restored by now, I think one went to Bangalore or Pune

Hi Srinand

Thanks for the picture - you too made my day
I'm a die-hard 2CV nut, and can never have enough of the "Deux". I've got a collection of books, trivia, and scale models of this fabulous Gallic invention, and any movement on this thread gets me excited !!

I would love to meet Dr. Kumarswamy someday. Hope I'm able to make a trip to Bangalore, hope the day comes soon..
