Phew! Where in Kumara Park did you spot these MB? I stay in Kumara Park and have never ever seen them before. I am very curious now. Did you intimate the MEE's about FCB?

Ok so you meant the manifold and exhaust pipe. I know about the 4X2 setup of S1. Actually i paid 200 for the manifold and he's asking for 250 for the exhaust pipe. I was wondering whether the said pipe can be fabricated/replicated. If yes what would be the cost pattern. Just curious to know about the fabrication cost as a used one is available in scrapyard.

Just bargain and pick the twin pipe. If you really need it, dont bother about a couple of hundred ruppes. Many times it happens that we find parts that we dont need. When we need the same parts desperately, they wouldnt be available. Fabricating could be a costly affair. If you got good cash, get a good guy to make customer headers and free flow.

What you said is 100% correct. The parts when required are scarce and hard to find and when they are in plenty there is no demand. Will be purchasing the same, hopefully tomorrow. thanks a lot for the help. Will definitely update you on this.

I spotted a pristine gray Padmini today near Ulsoor road. It looks exactly like Arun1100's Delighted Padmini 331. It had a sun shade too. Engine sounded so damn smooth and was cruising nicely in 3rd and 4th gears in not so much traffic. The driver did not look like a owner to me. May be a reseller looking to sell it off. I was on my 2 wheeler today and couldnt manage to click the pics. It was a Ka 03 registration

Default 1954 Dukkar

This car is owned by Reverend Prakash Stephen. He is a priest and unfortunately is very busy on Sundays. He wants to be part of FCB but is unable to do so as Sundays are very busy at church. This 1954 Millicento has been owned by him for the past 14 years. He uses this car regularly.

Reverend Prakash Stephen the proud owner and his 1954 Dukkar.

Finally we get to see this Millecento's pics! Thank you Sir for posting the pics.

Arun once followed Mr. Prakash Stephen who was in his Millecento from Cantonment Rly Stn to Lingarajpuram! Mr. Prakash was driving his FIAT so fast that Arun could finally speak to him only after he reached his house. This was in November 2009.

I too spoke to him once near Brigade road. As you said, he is busy on Sundays' to attend the FCB Meet.

Mr. Prakash claims that his is a 1953 model Millecento. He has another set of wheel caps stocked at home!

Default 118NE- Painting DAY 5

The car has finally gone into the booth.

Surfacer checked, spots checked, undulations checked.

Aaaaaal izzzzzzzzz welll...........

Some more pics tomorrow.

BTW, i picked up few NE parts, and i was shocked by its prices

1) Tail light assembly (Street smart) 1 pair - Rs 1980/-
2) Indicator assembly (headlight) 1 pair - Rs 860/-
3) Fender indicators 1 pair - Rs 75/-
4) Window garnish (Full set) - Rs 900/-
5) Door edge beadings (full set) - Rs 2100/-

All this brought at CAR Automobiles- Bangalore

All the above spares are now couriered to Mysore.

Guys, i feel things are getting too pricey. I feel, maintaining PAL cars will become a costly affair very soon.

Sirji i feel its already a costly affair to maintain the PAL assembled/produced cars.Near to genuine spares are costing a bomb and the other parts available are of very inferior quality. Also not every part of the car is available, whatever car it may be the 1100D, PP S1, Ne's, 1.38D, Uno.
BTW good to see the rapid progress on the car. Do post some updated pics tomorrow. Hope that the color to be done is the same.

Pavan: I always have heard and know (atleast my 3 yr experience) that NE parts have always been expensive. Wasnt the car itself a bit expensive in those days? This was supposed to be a pretty luxury car those days and I see the pricing perfectly alrright. Howver, paying such a price for a spurious/duplicate/repro cannot be justified. Still in my opinion, as long as we get the part (original or duplicate) we should be happy. As compared to the 1100's, NE's are far more lesser. I am still baffled (happy but) that so many parts are still readily available. There would be a day soon where we might repent that some time back we atleast used to get the parts, now we hardly find.

IMO, your Beetle parts could be atleast double expensive. Good thing is you get most of it as original.
