MYB 2148 seems to have the "Krilo Paint Job" look that was much touted when we were kids in the 1970's - 1980's.
Can you tell us more about the "Krilo" pls!

And KA05MA118 looks very like one of those gorgeous Lancia Fulvia HF's which used to rule the Rally circuits in Europe in the late '60's and '70's!
The number is actually KA05M2118.

Hello FIATians. The 8th Anniversary meet on Sunday at Lalbagh saw some 40 FCB cars participating. It was a great Meet.

Bhpian Schoudhary from Calcutta, Mr. Pillai from Coimbatore and our Classic Car spotter Bhpian Schakravarthy drove from Mysore to the meet in his recently acquired Millecento!

Here are some pics of the Lineup of cars.

Ha ha.. it was a super fun drive and an even more fun meet. Thanks a ton to the founders!

The Mille drive was doubtful even until the previous night; the entire Saturday was spent at the garage, sorting out bits that needed immediate attention - brakes, suspension, etc. Sourcing a petrol tank to do away with the gas connection proved futile, as the Padmini tank seemed too big. (Any pointers?)

Fiat 1100 Club - Bangalore [FCB]-forumrunner_20170321_083722.png

Even when sorted, I was unsure about the reliability of the car - it being a recent acquisition, I was completely unfamiliar with its condition!

So, armed with a tankful of faith and a can of engine oil, coolant, my tools, tow rope & shackles and 5 lts of water, I set off at 6 AM.

My friend, in good faith, had warned me that the Mysore-Bangalore stretch was being re-tarred and an uncle of his took almost 6-7 hrs to reach Mysore on Saturday. So, I set off along the Malavalli-Kanakpura road. But my direction sense is awesome and much to my surprise, I somehow ended up back on the Mysore-Bangalore road, somewhere near Maddur.
But thankfully, the tarring works seemed to have been completed on Saturday itself, so it was pleasant sailing.

I reached the venue at around 10 AM.

After much drooling at the cars, started my return drive by 3PM - with the sun blazing away in all his glory.
But the car didn't break a sweat (I did all the sweating on its behalf), didn't need water top ups (I needed frequent top-ups; plenty at that), didn't overheat (it's a surprise I didn't catch fire!) and didn't miss a beat.
It was a comfortable cruise at 60-80kmph and I was home by 6.30PM. Good timing for an 'old car'.
It was almost non-stop drive - to & fro, barring a small chaai break. The car didn't overheat even once. Not bad.

The car is now my daily drive, with the Cedia taking a break. It's fun. I've grown quite fond of it.

Fiat 1100 Club - Bangalore [FCB]-forumrunner_20170321_083421.png

Looking forward to the next meet already!

Well done Team FCB. A big salute to your FIAT spirits. The well attended 8th Anniversary Meet seems to have been a great success. Happy to note the involvement of families in this passion. Keep up the great work in bonding the FIAT owners and keeping the passion strong.

Well done schakravarthy. It is fantastic that you took the plunge and drove this car from Mysore. Like your spirit

Word of caution, please check the wiring and if possible replace the same. Fire is hazzard, we need to be vary of. If you plan the do more long drives, always carry a small fire extinguisher. Safety first, should always be the mantra. Summer time the heat from the engine can be unbearable. Always drive with the window glass down and allow for ventilation.

Wish you many more miles

Cheers

Thank you, sir. Will definitely invest in one.

The car will soon be restored to a reliable drive-about.

Keep the derelict look cosmetically and overhaul all mechanicals and make it a reliable ride. Most cars that are restored to cosmetic glory will end up not being driven for the fear of getting bruises on daily drives.

The fun is in driving and enjoying the car.

More or less my view, though I would say keep the derelict look, a.k.a patina bodily and try to recover as much of the original cosmetics as possible!
Also try setting right the existing cosmetics, like getting that bent front grille straightened out.
