Why has the rear bumper not been chromed? The rust robs the car of its looks.

HSR Bug.......? oh u must be talking about this ....!

Its a 1969 Auto (handomatic) pretty bad shape, and asking price of 4 lacs. NOT WORTH IT.
Yup and i hate the sight that i stopped taking that route nowadays, how can someone leave such a piece to Rot!! Atleast tell him to park it proper, minimal respect one can give to an automobile icon!!

Inderpall, it could be the shift bushing. It's a cheap (1-2$) bushing that is on a mount near the gear shifter (inside the tunnel) and holds the shift rod. When this bushing gets worn, the linkage gets sloppier and can cause a grinding to when shifting to second. Cheap to replace. Buy 2.

Without your advice, it would have been impossible for me to sort out the trouble with Srisha's car. Thanks again Byas.

Hoping to meet you and your Bug soon.

Hi Kevin,

Srisha's Bug is running happily all over Bangalore

Presently no issues, we will be changing spark plugs this weekend, as it was due.

Right now the distance between Srisha and his Beetle is 3333 kms apart, Well, they will stay apart for few more months.

Time for its regular service and a little upgrades on the car. I shall be driving it back to my home for few days and will do a small makeover towards Originality.

Will keep this thread updated..

Had gone to check the status of the car over the weekend, no visible damage as Srisha had feared, but just catching dust all around. And the car is not started for more than 3-4 months.

Probably will be picking up the keys and plan to drive it out sometime today or tomorrow.

Unfortunately the distance will remain the same for another 2 years, i can only drive her once in a while when i come to India. So need to plan some alternates while I am away,.

Hey, thanks "gentlerowdy" thats a funnly handle, if you are gentle then you should be called "Gentleman".

Yes, I am lucky to have her, but she is also not happy about this expensive hobby.........

Tell your mother in law, this will be worth more than a diamond in the future....

Ok Lets get to the topic.

Though the car is good right now, i assume that you want the car to go one level up in-terms of ORIGINALITY..

So without your authority, i have already begun in that step. Hope you dont mind...

1) Putting back the original Tail Light assembly.
2) Trying real hard for the Towel Rail Bumpers at LOW COST
3) Original Dashboard Switches
4) Pope's nose liscence plate light on the decklid
5) Original Dynamo pulley
6) OE fuel pump, yet keeping the Electric FP as a buffer
7) Replace warped door pads.
8) Get the inner dome Headlight beams, and make it work like a headlight... (LOL you know what i mean by this)
9) Put the engine breast plate
10) Assist strap on the inside pillar ( Please arrange to hand them over to me)
11) Replace the faulty Fuel line
12) Rework the Exhaust and make it sound like the BEETLE
13) Quarter Glass seals
14) LHS Window winder replacement
15) Inside Winder and lock handle replacement
16) Remove the Yenkey fuel guage and get the ORIGINAL Fuel indicator and tank sending unit
17) Underbody Antirust coating
18) Install the missing Hand brake cable
19) Brake overhaul.
20) Make the Horn work on the steering
21) Replce to a Lockable Decklid
22) To make the Door handles working normally

Well. Work has started, let me see how fast it will be done...
