Shyam,
Please note down the numbers on the bearings and the oil seals. Might be useful for you to hunt at a later point of time. It might be possible that the same bearing goes into some other application as well. Just for example the 2 crank shaft bearings in Lambretta & Vijay (NU205 & 6305) are used in Bullet as well. So knowing bearings & oil seals by their numbers makes it easier to procure them when the vehicle itself is obsolete.

Now that the right hub/drum is done, its the turn of the left one- again, both wheel cylinders replaced with new ones, with the Cunifer brake pipe fitted and the hub didnt need a new bearing, just a new cone, which was fitted and greased. Hub moves free and easy too!

Bro, This is where I hate mechanics for taking shortcuts. In a conical roller beaing like the one you have in the hub, both the cone & roller rub against each other during their service life and how come the mechanic expects the cone to wear down soon and the rollers still intact. He just wants to save some of his time by not replacing the entire bearing. Always insist on the complete replacement of bearings and not in parts. If possible please ask him once again, but 99% probality is that you will hear this reply "Trust me this will work, I have been working on this for 30 years. I learnt my trade from these cars."

Well IIRC I did get the bearing on this wheel replaced once last year.

But will still clarify from him as you suggest.

Front brake work done, now moving on to the rear- all the 4 brake liners (2+2) on both sides were found to be worn out! Luckily got a whole set of NOS ones via ebay UK. So fitted on. Plus replaced the wheel cylinder kits on both wheels, (note: they tend to go weak if the brakes are not in use for long!)

All functional now.

Sorry not too many pics. of this as it was done while I was at work! :(

Plus got a better master cyl. from ebay UK again, which I decided to fit for the brake, just had to put a new kit in.

The rubber boot will be refitted eventually once the m.cyl.'s been used a bit.

Also got a fairly good used pair of wiper arms! I already got the blades but these will be fitted onto the car only for shows/photos for fear of pilfering in our apartment parking lot!

Planning to go for a long-ish drive tomorrow, going to be one in ages! Should be fun!

Hi.

It is told to me that the owner of Kashyap FIAT in NCR, is a V&C aficionado. They say- If one steps into his workshop- apart from battered Linea's and Punto's, umpteen V&C Cars, and two wheelers can also be seen.

This (ex-Bangalore ) VW caught my attention. Note- This one is only 22 numbers away from your Herald.

This one is CAN 1548- and your Herald was once registered CAN 1526. Also note how Left Hand Drive has been written. Typical Bangalorean font- One can see many commercial vehicles in Bangalore having their number plates painted in such a font.

Note the 2009-2014 Indian made FIAT Grande Punto Dynamic MultiJet parked beside the VW.

What is the significance to this thread. By the way kashyap automobiles also have a replica MG TD from Malaysia (the only one, they were planning to import and sell in India) also have a BMW Isetta 300.
