That's a great haul. Nice to see that handles on your car are aluminum. I believe I also had the Fiat logo for the grill. If I find it I will give it to you.

Also please not that your brake fluid reservoir is not original. The original should be of metal or plastic with Fiat script along with instructions in Italian. As like this.

I see the fuse box is premier. I want to ask the gurus whether that will be Fiat scripted or Premier in your car.

As for the Air filter, please see attached picture of an early delight wit the dry type air filter. Again asking gurus whether it will oil bath or dry type in your car.

Another question is whether this car will have the fresh air ventilation system as found in earlier cars?

Sagar, I was referring to the wheel caps and not grill.

As Shyam said, the grill is correct to this Fiat.

Oh my mistake. Actually i summed up your post after reading the last line. So missed the hub cap part. Yes you are absolutely right about them i think the one on the left (in the pic) is of the last model delight. It looks very similar to the President ones which i have. BTW are those bunch of park light lenses Sweet trade make.
Guys if possible, do keep an eye on, a pair or 2, of those round shaped side repeaters and a President badge. I am game for the extensively used ones too.

Yes I am quite lucky to get this car. The story, here it goes ..

A doctor in Mysore wanted to trade in the car to buy a Verna; however, he was very keen that a responsible and an appreciative person to get the car. I happened to get to know and the Doc was glad to let me drive it away.

The last of delights came with these types of wheel caps. They had a black speedometer with piano type switches. Later on, after PALs license to produce Fiat cars under the parent company name expired in 1972, the same design was carried forward to the President with PAL instead of FIAT with the profile remaining exactly the same. The speedometer in the President was also the same with silver backplate instead of black and with toggle switches.
Also, the air cleaner would be dry type on this cars and mostly ( though I am not 100% sure) without the hot air intake mechanism.

Adheesh Parelkar

Congrats on a neat buy. Delight's are very dear to me, I'm glad to see the car coming up so nicely. Those number plates look spectacular - are they still available?

You have got some nice goodies, and really quick too. Bangalore boys are always ready to help I can see.
The 2 wheelcaps you have are of a 72-only Delight, yours should be aluminium. I have 2 aluminium ones to spare, if you would like to trade these steel ones, as I have a 72 Delight and not enough hubcaps. What say?

Srivathsa Sir. You better accept this offer by Karl. We can surely get two more from Gujiri.

P.S: Karl : The two clip type wheel caps of Delight and one 124 wheel cap are still with Arun. May be we can send these wheel caps too along with the '72 ones.

I doubt that it is of 1968 model because I had 2 1968 Fiat cars MRC6903 with chassis number 014620 and MRC6621 with chassis number 013898. As your car has chassis number 019811, it may be a 1969 / 70 model. Please recheck your records.
For the record,
  • my August 1967 Delight has number 007163
  • my June 1971 Delight has number 054393
  • my May 1972 Delight has number 066537
  • my August 1973 President has number 084016
(months mentioned are dates of registration, not manufacture).

I would think that a 68 Delight would have had a black painted ashtray, all my Delights have them. The chrome ones would have been fitted to the 64/66 cars perhaps (cars with vents on dash the square pattern front grille and blue meters).

1967 production positively had clip type wheels, not too sure on late 1968. 1969 positively had Padmini type wheels.

Chrome ashtrays with black tops came only in imported/home market cars, not in India.

They had black meters, but regular toggle switches. Piano type switches were fitted to late Super Selects and early Delights, and possibly on some Presidents too.

Sorry that was a typo on my part, I meant early Delights and late Presidents, and then Padmini.
