| Senior - BHPian | Dear Friends, Since long wanted to share with you, this 1959 Chevrolet Impala, RHD, automatic, 6 in-line, which has been in my family since early 70's. Belonged to my late maternal uncle and presently owned by his son (my cousin). Still remember my first ride, the day my uncle bought it. Most original...color, upholstery, carpet, engine, you name it. Done about 28 thousand on the odometer. Carburetor misplaced and tyres need replacement. Hyderabad and many connoisseurs from all over the country know who the car belongs to and how it has been maintained since about four decades. DKG (Deepak) Connoisseur/ Collector/ Restorer has seen it in person last week. Notice: The sweeping sides view the rear passengers can have due to the non existence of the B pillar. | That's one helluva good looking car fazalaliadil! How long has it been there? And what's with all that water! - I hope the water levels haven't ever rose above what we can see right now. Too many questions, but one last: how do you plan to bring her out considering she's surrounded by walls on 3 sides! |

| Its a great car Fazal...I rememebr seeing it once very briefly ages ago on the road. What is its regestration number and who was your uncle who owned it. It will be great to get it on the road again. Also it looks neetly wedged into that space there between the wall at the back and the othr in front. How did it get there, did they build the wall at the back after parking the car ?? How will it be taken out now Last edited by wasif : 25th September 2010 at 15:49. |

My uncle's name was Syed Alamdar Husssain. It will soon be gliding, again on the roads of Hyderabad. How it got in there: She will come out the same way she went in, change tyres- pour vicious oil on the floor on the left side of the tyres- push her sideways out. Three persons are enough for this operation. Regards,

| BHPian | Dear Fazal Bhai, Thanks for sharing a heritage car with us on the forum. The car has been kept in a very good condition! Credit goes to your mamajee ![]() I remember when I was a kid, the Impala was the car for us to ogle upon and feel happy, at the sight of one passing by, similar to the feeling one gets at the sight of a RR Phantom seen today. At that time I had a 1/28 scale model of the Impala in Navy Blue colour, gifted by my Grandfather. |

You, and all are welcome...the pleasure is mine. Yes this beauty with its winged rear end is an American Icon. 20 feet plus long it is over- imposing on the street When it comes out I will post pics of the rear meanwhile this one can substitute, as it is the same. ![]() Last edited by fazalaliadil : 25th September 2010 at 16:19.

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | Great car Fazal bhai. Its a rare piece as most have been destroyed or altered to suit whims.Everything seems original. To reduce the stress on tyres, the car can be jacked up or wooden blocks used to lift the bodyshell as it appears to be parked for long spells. I remember the open top , tomato red Impalas, that would be parked near Kachiguda Rly Station for rent. These were nastily modded. |

| Nice car and very well maintained. Is it in proper running condition? Can you give us some details about its engine. Do you have any idea about the current value of this car? |

I especially love these models with 'Panoramic' rear window. But what truly amazes me is the way she is parked and the confidence you have in removing it sideways! Looking forward to seeing her on the road. Do share pictures of the process of getting her roadworthy too.
