Default Packards in India.

We need to start this thread to document the Packards that are still in India.

Below is a picture of a large Packard. Is this the 35 V12 from Delhi ?? Looks too big to be an eight.

Mods : Couldn't find a Packards in India thread hense this one. Can we post all packard details and pics form other threads into this to make a coprehensive reference database.

Not the '35 V12 for sure Wasif. By '34 the fenders had closed down on the sides and up ahead of the wheel concealing the wheel well and the tyre view from front. Also by 32 Packard received the yoked raditor shroud, unlike the flat grill this one has

This particular car looks like a 1931 840 Deluxe Eight going by the large spare wheel hub. If we have the chassis number I can clarify for certain. Picture is not too clear so I am not very sure. Those hood louvers appeared so on the senior Packards.

Nice thread. You have fans in Harit, Kasli and me for sure !!

A spectacular 1932 Packard Eight Touring, formerly Maharajah Jhabua's car. Restored painstakingly by Manvendra Singh

A fabulous 1934 Packard Eight Touring, formerly Maharajah Datia's car.

A 1941 Packard 110 Touring Sedan (six cylinders, this car apparently has a factory supplied a/c. By the way Packard was the first mfg worldwide to offer airconditioning as a factory option. This was earlier than '41 though)

Hi DKG.

Can you document the Packards in Hyderabad and post pics of all.

I remember a few of them from my days in Hyd. Apart from your 120 there used to be a similar or older sedan that used to come from the old city but in a rather distressed condition.

Then there was the Pittie family 120 convertible APX 1011 or similar reg no. Later came the Captains Packards.

There was one with Rashid Nawab too at his factory location. The NTR family also was said to have one but convertied to diesel, never saw it though.

Finally there was a Clipper with the BE guy, black colour and the Alladin car that you restored.

When did you guys aquire the green limo ?

We / are there more in Hyd. Would love to see pics

This most definitely is not a 1931 Deluxe Eight as the 1931 840 and 845 received the longer sweeping fenders of the 1930 745

Its obviously not a 745 either. Which means the car is either a 1929 640 or 645 or a 1930 740

The car cannot be a 726 or 733 as the hood has vent doors and not slats.

The car appears not to be a 1929 640 either as the rear door is hinged at the front.

Which leaves us with a possible conclusion the car is a 1930 740 seven passenger touring (am assuming its a seven seater as the proportions don't look that of a phaeton)

I could be mistaken but it would be interesting if this car is not a 1930 740 touring. Does anyone know if its chassis number looks like 410 XXXX and a wheelbase of 140 1/2 inches

@ Wasif - Sometimes I wonder myself, after all are we all not mere custodians of works of art?

Originally a 1938 Packard Eight Touring Sedan, Sixteenth series body type 1172, body restored along the lines of Seventeenth series body type 1297 on account of roof damage.

The car received an upgrade mechanically, while with the original owner to a 327 cu in engine from the Twenty Second series Custom Eight line

Moved from the city of Charminara to that of Qutab Minar? Could we call this the Packard Advocatus then?
