Great to see another Model A being brought to life, neat job on a lovely car to drive even in today"s chaotic traffic.

Over the years restoration quality has really improved by leaps and bounds and relatively unknown workshops are delivering cars finished to high standards.

Praise must be given to all those behind the scenes, as also the owners for inspiring one and all to achieve excellence.

Thank you Sir !

Update:
Yesterday we fixed the bumpers , they are newly fabricated and made of stainless steel.

Luggage rack was also fitted.

Today's target was to fire the engine , however we have hit a major roadblock, in all this process of restoring the car over last couple of years, we forgot to prime and treat the petrol tank , so today when we tried to clean it all sort of rust and dirt came out

Restoration: 1930 Ford Model A Phaeton-20170221_111447.jpg

The windscreen and frame, bonnet etc have all been removed and the tank is now out of the car for proper cleaning and treatment , hope we can fix this issue by tomorrow , as now we are racing against time with just 3 days to go for the Jaipur event.

Update:
Just one and half day to go for the rally, I have decided not to push the guys and will resume the pending work post the Jaipur rally , no point trying to finish the work and then redo it or regret it later. A bit frustrating , but then I think I made the right decision.

Glad to see the progress made, she's really looking smart, and I'm sure should be a usable reliable classic. Have you gotten the bumpers fabricated from scratch? For some reason they look a little off to me, not sure why. Maybe they should taper inwards at the ends? Do you have some reference material for original bumpers?

Thanks for not fitting whitewalls

These bumpers are fabricated from scratch and in stainless steel , we had the original bumpers for reference apart from a few Ford A's at the workshop.

Now that you mention I took another look at the original pictures and they do tend to bend inwards very little, in the 1928 and 1929 model the bend is much greater than in the 1930-31 model. I will see what we can do to get a little bend on these.

I had thought about the whitewall inserts but I do not like the way they fit.

Most welcome.

We have a few Model A's in my city. I hope you don't mind my posting the pictures here in you thread. The first is the white one. I saw this parked on the foot path near a petrol pump. Apparently it was for sale. I didn't ask the price as I was not about to buy it. Photographed in 2014.

The second one is green and has a rather special registration number of Rawalpindi 1. This one was snapped by yours truly while at a classic car show in 2015

Thanks for the pictures, the second car, Rawalpindi 1 also shows the inward bend in the bumpers as Karl had pointed out.

Here are two more pictures, which show the newly mounted spare, as you might notice the tread on the spare is different from the other tyres, as I have retained the Firestone spare that came with the car.
