Looks like a rebody on an older chassis, not covering the registration plate could be helpful?...

Looks like Y or X 8418 or near about 8468 lucky to have a new that greys the white to give basic impressions . Not aware of the car though

Can be Sri Lanka or South East ASIA - Burma ? The man's uniform does not look like from India . Only my guess

Funny also noticed the car has trafficators

Harit,
It is much easier if you don't hide the registration!

X 84nn could be a Ceylon 1928-36 number and 84nn would make it 1934ish I guess. Or it could be Bombay early 1920s. Definitely not Burma (R, RA, RB, etc)
From the look of the car I would pick Sri Lanka, especially as kasli doesn't like the driver's uniform. Unless people say rebodied and then I guess Bombay.
Cheers

Nice find. I too would say rebody?

I see the passing resemblance, but that is a Ghost and this is more likely to be small horsepower car. The other match that comes to mind is the Mayurbhanj 20hp GDK4, originally Barker Landaulette but rebodied to a tourer (Steuarts?) with similar bulging fenders. A small possibility that the first rebody was a saloon, and later chopped. But on closer inspection many other details don't match.

Hi guys thanks for response.
Hopefully the car will now be identified when the complete photo is shown.
The registration number is X 8400, so a Bombay car.
Somehow I don't think that it is a re-body, re-bodied so early in it's life? One never knows though.
The Cottage, Morarji Cottage could give some clue to it's identity.
Was any Rolls supplied to a Morarji family / mills early 1930's?
This appears to be a discovery of a car not much is known about.

Cheers harit

In 1929 a 20hp with Weymann Saloon coachwork was delivered to Morarji Khatau, #GLN34 - I would guess this is the same car. To me it looks like a rebody. The cottage looks like a hill station to me - Mahabaleshwar/Lonavala/Matheran.

Incidentally I am told the Khatau family also had another Rolls, a 1921 Silver Ghost #21AG, Park Ward Cabriolet, bought by them in 1933 from the original owner, Kooverji Gamadia. The car is not known to survive.

#21AG won a trophy at a concours of the Australian Rolls-royce owners club in 1977, so I'm pretty sure it's still around.

The "C"ooverji Gamadia Silver Ghost was chassis # 91AG.

Boybentley is correct. 21AG was shipped to Douglas Fraser of Brisbane; and seems to have had an Australian light tourer body.

Apologies, that was a typo. It was indeed 91AG. Any further records of the car? And what about GLN34?
