It doesn’t look like Hughes Road, Bombay or Park Street in Calcutta. Which city was it?
When Rolls Royce relaunched in India recently this photo did the rounds quite often in the publicity buildup. I wonder if that gorgeous sign board survives!

I remember seeing a spectacular PIII in the Sanghi collection sitting next to the light blue PIII (Baroda car? can't remember if I saw the leopard skin, obviously I wasn't impressed enough to remember that detail ) you can see a fender with the black paint chipped off. Honestly the Baroda car simply paled in comparison, I was told this is a Darbhanga RR. I was totally floored by this car, moreso as its just sitting there aged, no restoration still in its original paint albeit chipped

I had a picture of the Darbhanga car but somehow I have lost them amongst the usual maze of pictures.

Why don't we start putting the above details against pictures and other details, making this a more comprehensive record of the PIII's ?

Julian,
You could add
3AZ178 (to Darbhanga in 1937)
3BU120 (to India in 1964)
3BT127 (to India in 1960's)
3CP76 (Mookerjee)
3CP100 (Viscount Lumley)
--------------------------------
3DL90 never went to India, the order was cancelled and the car was sold to Jack Barclay.
3DL200 never went to India as such. It landed in Karachi and was immediately forwarded to Kabul. It was bought by the Indian govt as a present for Mohammed Zahir Shah of Afghanistan.
I have pictures of all those Indian PIII's (I think!) but I don't have time to deal with those at the moment, I'll post them in a couple of weeks.
best
Andre Blaize

Good idea, Travencore suggested the same. Perhaps the picture, year, chassis no and owner, only then should be posted, otherwise its gets all vague and we'd have to trouble the mods. It really ought to be sticky as it will quickly vanish down the list of threads.

Now that I have a few votes, I will get down to it this weekend. I probaly have pictures for most "Indian" PIII's with the exception of maybe 2 or 3. That is the only reason I suggested a dedicated PIII thread (the other models are just as impressive - for all of you Ghost / PI / PII / 20/25/30 / Wraith......lovers )

Don't really know what a sticky is (other than the 3M kind); or how to get it done

Thank you for the valuable additions Park Ward. I presume that the car 3CP76 (Mookerjee) is the Calcutta car (I also worked on). My wife is there on a visit and I was going to ask her to go and check the number. You have saved her the trouble.
There is still one more mystery limousine in Delhi that belonged to a Mohan Meakin relative, I had only pictures of the engine (which I posted earlier) when the heads were off but it was white/black limo with a door type footwell ventilator as opposed to louvres. I am awaiting some more photos.

Travencore, a sticky thread is one that will stay at the top of the list and won't keep moving down the list. I think a petition to the mods is necessary. If we all stopped posting for a day or two you wouldn't see a single vintage car post on the first page at all. We really need a sticky parked thread or 10. Can we all request our esteemed administrators to give us 10 sticky parked threads.

Thank you justrolls1 very useful photos. Eventually I think a 20hp record thread is developing. Keep them coming!
I just found this, its the 20hp 66H3 Bharatpur chassis I restored in Delhi after blasting and zinc spraying. It took 4 days to straighten it. Half an axle on the bench behind. No air conditioning and up to 46 degrees C in Summer and down to 150 volts and 50% of the time power cuts. I'd loose 6kg weight every summer. Not relevant but also maybe relevant....

I hate to do this, I think GPK20 (Engine 1391) was originally ex-Maharaja of Kashmir (may have gone to Jodhpur later). It was on sale in 2006 by Maryett Classics.
The following link also refers to it as "Kashmir" and includes the interior picture above

The records do say Kashmir, but they did used to present them as gifts alot, 66H3 originally went to Bharatpur but appeared from Udaipur, it had been a gift. Maybe the same case here. Maharajahs moved in mysterious ways.....

Park Ward I’ve only just noticed your reply about 25/30 GZR30 Vanden Plas. Thank you.
I have just found I have a photo of its engine bay, might as well post it:

Can you, Travencore or anyone help put numbers to the following 20hp photographs posted earlier? Thank you in advance.

Is this 64H9 with special hand controls for H.H. Maharajah of Udaipur?

I believe that there was a silver ghost in the Rolls Royce dealership in Bombay a few months ago. Am i correct? Was that the poonawalla car. Also, Kasli mentioned to me that he was restoring one of Mallyas Rolls. He didnt say which model.

This one looks almost exactly similar to the ex-Udaipur "The Twentieth Twenty" Chassis # 42GO as illustrated on page 21 of "Coachwork on RR". Open Tourer body by Barker, owned by John Fasal (when the book was published) . The picture in the book does not have bumpers though - may be a later add.

However, if John Fasal owned it at one time, I doubt it would be back in India now. The other option is GAK43 (per your list, ofcourse!)
