Default JBL Bass Pro II

Dear ICE Gurus

What is your opinion on the JBL Bass Pro II Active Sub? Would it be better than the Blaupunkt ODsb 8000A ?

Proposed application - Tata Safari which already has the Blau. Will go for the JBL if it is considered better than the Blau, in which case I need to find a buyer for the Blau.

Humbly yours in ICE,

Better is subjective, considering I haven't heard the JBL. The Blau I have heard, and have not returned very impressed. The JBL is certainly more powerful in terms of the amplifier power, and is more pleasing to the eye

Dont know if I qualify as a shishya.. but having seen/heard your blau I feel you can do with a lot more bass in the car ... I am no bass head but the JBL can be an immense improvement...

You also need to upgrade your speakers and hook a basic 4 channel amp to it... Will take your SQ into another league!

Take a look at the Innova install pics.. should give you am idea or two... I feel two 10" under the front seat should take care of things - esp considering you drive and dont get driven... well ... most of the time!

I'd take the blau woofer and stuff it under the front seat if it will go there by moving some bass to the front. then use the JBL for some more bass.

CAnt do that Navin, its an active one and hence a bit bulky even to go under the Safari's frnt seat.

As KB said, 10incher under frnt seat and another 12 inch for the boot. Then a very decent mono amp and a 4 channel amp for your big car will do good. Also look at hertz range ( or ID?) as they need less vol for teh box.

Good idea. I've been toying with the idea of putting the blau betweent the two front seats (it will fit in there) after removing the blowers to the rear seats that are currently there. The rear seats are adequately served by the roof-mounted a/c coils so there's no real need for the floor-level blowers - this might in fact improve the airflow to the front seats as well.

Two Subs in my Safari????

Thanks Sam. I'll still go ahead with the Blau relocation and leave the space behind as 'available' for another sub...do you think it will serve as a second sub well enough? If the front is served by the Blau and the rear by the JBL, we might still be able to get the desired result, right? Or dyou think not?

It's a nice compact active sub. Tight (Quad coil 8") but the sound... well i dont like it at all. I dont think you should buy it.

Thank you. I wont buy it...that effectively closes the subject. Whoever said ICE guys never reach a conclusion?

Now I need to look for alternatives that will fit in the space vacated by the Blau.

Two Subs in my Safari????
Steer would the active blau subs go under that seat???

Steer how abt some tuned ported sub by Pio? Its bigger than your current blau sub. Or maybe you can get a proper sub box like gto1200b and a good amp for it?

Nope. I'm (thinking in terms of) putting it BETWEEN the front seats - its shape is quite similar to that of a plastic console that may normally have been between the seats (if not for the rear a/c vents). Thats a lot of bass close to you, though...maybe I'll get a Bass-massage as I drive.

Steeroid, just so that you know 2 8" woofer have about the same area as a 12" woofer so in case you dont have room for 1 bog box with a 12" woofer you may be able to squeeze 2 small boxes with 8" woofers.
