Alert - Fake JBL products (Amps, Speakers, Subs...)

This was a one year old thread!

Anyway, since this thread is already revived, I'll post pictures of fake JBL enclosures floating around in the market. Sam would be able to comment on them.

Please note that only the ENCLOSURE is fake and not the sub.








I've increased the brightness of one of the pictures so that you can clearly see the JBL logo.

u know raghu, these are pretty common in Delhi. basically margin comes from selling fake enclosures. cost X 4 = MRP. customer thinks it as original set and doesnt know its screwing the sound.

I asked Sachin from Carman....yaar yeh JBL ka to nahin lag raha, he said nahin yeh JBL hi hai. Then he pointed out at sub, i said I'm talking about enclosure.

Replied "bhaiya yeh hamne customize kiya hai according to JBL sub". I asked kitne cubic ft hai, sealed ya ported? he shouted....ummm.....abe raju yeh kitna hai? raju replied " pata nahin yeh to sardar wala hai. sare ek jaise hi hote hain, sahi bajega". that was the end. i never went to him again.

@ Raghu, who sold this enclosure to you ?? Did they claim it was Official JBL ?? It's defnitely not, but this one is way out of calculation, the enclosure looks anywhere above 2.25 CuFt. And yes Even I have seent those boxes but that was some time ago, have not seen these selling in numbers in last 6 months.

I DID NOT BUY THIS!!!!

I just found this lying at a shop and took the pictures to share it here. The dealer said "He just got it from one of his suppliers and had no idea about it."

Like Panky said, he was very excited to sell it, because in his opinion the bigger, the better (He also said it would suit Innovas and Scorpios, I just couldn't stop laughing )

About the volume, yes, it was very very huge, way above 2.25 CuFt.

lol. The logo is a little inclined, but decent job with that for a fake, I agree.
The guy quoted 1,800/- for it. Guess it is worth it, as long as you can chop it down and use it as firewood. Weighed an awful lot!

the chap in question offered me a total JBL set for Rs. 6500, "kya bhaiya aapko toh cost pe bechna padega, SAM ke friend jo ho."

Somehow as this thread is progressing, I'm feeling that some people may be mistaken. I need to tell everyone:

1. I did not buy this enclosure or consider buying it. I have posted the pictures for informing that the enclosure is fake and not a sensible buy.

2. Please read my posts carefully, the opinions are of the shop owner including "Bigger the better" (And all of that is wrong).

Raghu, could you please let me know at what dealers did you see this particular box with the JBL logo on it?

And yes, that box is about twice as big as it should be.

In an unfortunate development, it has been brought to my notice that there are some products being manufactured in New Delhi which are being labelled as JBL. They are of poor finish and are as fake as fake can be.

I will follow this report up with pictures in the next few days. Action is being taken against the offenders but unfortunately many of these counterfeit JBL products are already out in the market, mostly New Delhi.

Please be careful with your purchases.

So far I have been informed of 2 products.

1) JBL GTO937 - there is a GTO937 that is completely fake. I do not have the tell tale signs to offer you yet, but I will soon.
2) JBL Subwoofer 1500W - there is no such model and this one is a particularly bad counterfeit.

A few pieces of these fake JBL products will be with me shortly and I shall share pictures and tell-tale signs with all of you as soon as I can.
Meanwhile, starting from this week, there will be an original JBL hologram on product boxes. By the time the hologrammed products will reach the shelves it will be another 3 weeks.

Hmm bad news indeed,

JC road will fill with this stuff soon if it is well finished and that will rott part of the market and JBL will get a bad name.

Sure as should all the guys who sell/buy pirated software, DVDs etc. Will never happen.

Well, my sources tell me that the material is a small quantity and currently limited to the JBL grey market only (of course) in Delhi. The matter is being dealt with and there is also a rather unexpected solution coming soon.
