Tuned for clarity, subs sounded pretty tight, Speakers were good, but the component 6.5s had too much treble for a speaker at that price range, and started giving up a little earlier than it should have, on pumping up the volume. Overall sounds pretty neat though, pretty crisp midbass at medium volume levels.
The Polk Momo 4 channel amp can pump only 75 RMS to each channel. The components are 125 RMS each. And that's why they give up before you expect them to give up. If there would have been a more powerful amp, say 125 RMS pumping in each of the components, then the sound would have been much better. I have powered my MMC 6500 with RF P450.2 (100 RMS x 2) and they are awesome. At very high level the voice distorts a little bit but that's because my amp doesn't has all the power to supply to the components.

hi,

you saw the date when BR posted??

i think gautam has revived old threads on more than one occasion thats why sam said "page digging expedition" , right sam?

anyway, i think 75w rms is quite fine to power a 125w rms comp. im powering my 100w comps with 75w amp and they play really nice

And BTW the alpine amp was used to power the sub, not the comps. :-)

cheers

I think I mentioned Polk Momo amp. Did I mention Alpine? I never said that 75 RMS amp cannot be used to power 125 RMS speaker. I just said it would not be great enough. Again I also said I am also powering my Polk Momo components with a 100 RMS amp and it sounds great. Again I just shared my opinion.

Well I have just started posting and may be look at the thread time more carefully. It is so easy to miss it. There is so much of information that you get lost. This site is too good for people who want to know things and share things.

hi, im sorry for that. i got confused(maybe because of momo-mono) but why so rude? people make mistakes sometimes right? :-)

IMO, the comps are not giving up, the amp is. another reason could be the comps are crossed over lower than they should.

cheers

The difference between similarly designed 75W and 100W amps is 1db! The 100W amp you used must have had more headroom than the 75W amp to sound so much better.

BTW most woofers are more limited by their physical excursion limits than thermal. Try feeding you 6" woofer 75W at 30Hz and see.
