by the way how easy is this to operate, as i heard that its not very user friendly. I am currently using a Pio 6050 with an Ipod, but ever since I have started on this combo, have stopped using CD's. So this looks like a good player for me.

Hi bought the 6050 about a month back for 9200 without b&w. Hope this helps.

Guys need a modest budget USB head that supports DVD video playback as well.

Iv got a screen (gifted to me) and hence the requirement. JVC seems to be the option in the region of 9k but simon says it dont sound so good Im hoping to audition this myself if possible in Blr.

One of the members posted a link about a site in this thread. (Link here) This site ships to India at about USD 50 for HUs. Has anyone used their services?

Has anyone bought the Alpine iDA-X300 HU? It is a relatively cheap HU with iPod and USB support. It is retailing for around US$ 175. I have almost finalized this HU for my setup, but need to find out how I can get this in India.

Here is the product page from Alpine. It is a nice looking HU, with an odd placement for the dial.

Looks good. But:
- Cant it play CDs/MP3s?
- Is it USB flash disk compatible? I guess so, but still confirming
- Has only 1 RCA pre out
- Any idea about the price in India?

IIRC people were complaining that the dial and the buttons are not very user-friendly. Check on your own in reviews on Google and Youtube.

Nishant, it doesn't play CDs.

I suspected so! Any news or reviews on Kenwood 'so-eagerly-awaited' 2008 HUs, veb?

Yes, it can't play CDs. All iDA series HUs are "mech less" in that they don't have any moving parts and are very light in weight because of this. They do play MP3s/AAC from flash drives. A "Full Speed" iPod cable also seems to be included.

I am trying to find out if these units are available in India now.
By the way, the UK version of this HU looks even better with the greenish display. Will suit perfectly for my Baleno dash.
