| BHPian | Hello, This thread was specific to getting some inputs from users/gurus on the following head units. I am planning to get one from Dubai through a relative. EXAD 333 JVC Mobile Entertainment EXAD AV Head Unit - KD-AVX33 This is the new BT enabled EXAD with a 3.5 inch screen and divx/dvd/svcd video apart from wma/mp3 and usb adapter at back. Bluetooth functions are awesome. My only gripe is the screen size (too small for real video). EXAD VX800 JVC Mobile Entertainment \ Model KW-AVX800 This is the 7inch touchscreen version. Plays everything the above does, with 7inch screen to boot. It supports BT with the BT kit to be bought separately, as mentioned below. Bluetooth® Adapter KS-BTA200 JVC Mobile Entertainment \ Model KS-BTA200 My concern is the INR 10K difference in cost between the 1st one and the touchscreen with bluetooth. I wont be using the 5.1 channel options for any of them as of now. Do you think the 7" vs 3.5" justifies the difference. Any of you using A/V receivers in cars please mention what you think based on your experiences! I need to decide within the next few days. Hence, your inputs are looked forward to. Thanks!

| Senior - BHPian | The screen size difference is not what you perceive to be. First thing, these are diagonal measurements i.e., if the screen is in 16:9 or 16:10. Let's do some math to understand this: (I assume 16:9) For 3.5 inch screen, (4a)^2 + (3a)^2 = 3.5^2 = 12.25 (That gives me 16a^2 + 9a^2) Hence, a=0.7. Therefore, the width is 4a, i.e., 2.8 inches and height is 3a or 2.1 inches. Total viewing area is 2.94 square inches. Similarly for the 7 inch screen, Width is 5.6 inches and height is 4.2 inches, which means to say, Total viewing are is 11.76 square inches, 4 times the viewing area of the 3.5 inch screen. Add to it, the touchscreen functionality. Ever wondered why TFT screens for computers get insanely expensive as you increase a couple of inches??? ![]()

| Team-BHP Moderator ![]() | If you want touchscreen(bling factor) get that. Otherwise get one without screen and get screen extra(4-5K) 3.5" screen is very useless. You will hate it and will end up spending 5K for a screen. So get a screenless one with all features(there is 8206 I think) and buy screen separately.

I have no experience with the JVC in-dash HUs and their screens. I just explained the reason for the difference in pricing. I know it could have been explained in a simpler way by saying, double the diagonal, 4 times would be the viewing area. Just put forward the illustration. Sitting jobless on a Sunday night is bad! ![]()

| BHPian | Still enumerating the pros and cons vis-a-vis the price differential! Anyone know car fitment/car audio install shops in Dubai? Would really help in getting a cheaper deal compared to MRP in JVC showrooms. This is for people who have been/know people/ to/in Dubai: Would you recommend places to check out in Dubai for picking up the above mentioned stuff? Websites/Phone numbers would definitely help!

| Practically speaking how much do people use screens they install in their ICE? And how much of that is safe driving and how much is unsafe driving? I can understand fitting screens in cars like the Innova for passengers in the back seat in terms of usage for long trips (though that too is a little silly IMHO)... but realistically, what use are LCD screens for drivers?! |

| BHPian | Yups, especially point 3 is a breeze with large mp3 collections; burn an mp3 dvd and browsing and selection is great. BTW, bought the bluetooth kit and the avx800. Installs over the weekend hopefully.
