By the way could you just let me know if it's possible to play audio files from an USB powered external hard disk via the USB port provided in your 4050?.
This one last info would help me to finalize on my ICE system.
Thanks a ton.

I suspected the rears to be fakes coz they were not listed on pioneer's site. TSA932 seems to be the model number.

Sorry for taking this offtopic for this thread.
Do you prefer blaus or Pio? If you prefer the balu and got them why bother?

It can but the large size of the HDD will make the setup slow. So go for a 2-4 gb pendrive for the same.

Thank You low_bass_makker. One more clarification would help. Is it worth waiting for the new series to be available in Trivandrum?. How would you rate the price hike to performance improvement ratio for 50 series to the upcoming 90 series.

Thanks again

Brother i am also waiting for the new series. As Pioneer will showcase them in AutoExpo 2008(New Delhi). So the wait is only for 9 days and then it will available in market (may be last week of january).

According to the specification, I got from other Pioneer website(thailand/china etc). Both series are looking similar. And may be after the launch of new series we can get 50 series in cheaper

Why dont you take the HDD to the shop and ask for a demo?

Here are the specs from the user manual for 4040 UB:-

USB version 2.0 full speed, supply current - 500 mA, Maximum amount of memory - 250GB, File system - FAT16, FAT 32.

Now look at the specs of your HDD to see what current it uses.

I just checked with the Guys in Chennai. They are asking Rs.6500 for pioneer 4050. But in this forum I read it as 5800-6000rs.
Any suggestions for the place in bangalore to buy this? Any idea on price?

No dude, the 3950 is the older series. By the '9' series i mean, the 2090,3090 etc, which are the officially imported 2008 series and their greymarket counterparts are the 3050,4050 etc. The 2950,3960...7950, are from the older 2007 line up.

This is a mean scan test with even a Windows XP machine on autoplay taking 30 seconds to sweep all the files.

The Pioneer laughed at my test and scanned the entire drive in 1.02min before playing the first track! It allowed me to spin the rotary commander as fast as i could and skip though 15-20 folders per revolution and no obvious slow down, pauses or buffers were met while browsing 100's of folder choices and listening to a track at the same time. Can you tell i was impressed...

Which cable you are using from the USB port to the IPOD. The original one which came with the IPOD or any after market one.
