| Senior - BHPian | This surely happens on T-Bhp. I would suggest to go for 5050 eyes closed as at that price you will not get that kinda package.

| Saw the 5050 (well the 5090, but same thing) - didn't like it... the build quality was meh, and moreover, the joystick thing is not something I think I can use while driving. The display was just really basic. So I think I'll stick to Kenwood... So to bring this thread back - is there no 2008 KEnwood HU with USB and Aux-in? (rear or front immaterial)

| DEH-P5090UB (as well as 4090MP) - why do you ask? aren't they the same thing apart from being grey vs. b&w?

| BHPian | are you serious ?!? thats weird. a friend got a 5050 in grey. i thought the only difference between grey (5050) and B&W (5090) models is that the 5050 has red back lighting for the buttons and the 5090 has all blue. i feel the 5050 grey model is way better looking. 6.5k and total VFM. |

| Pioneer 5050UB ![]() ![]() Apart from the backlight colour (Which I hadn't noticed before) I don't see the difference. The 5090 has a jogdial, but it is like a flat disc on top of a joystick - I call it the "flat mushroom" type of control - very unfriendly IMHO. From the pictures, it seems that the 5050 also has the same control. Right?

| Senior - BHPian | DEH-5050ub is limited only to SE.Asia and our grey imports. This time Pioneer has launched many different spec HU's simultaneously. For example the DEH-5090UB posted by Vebmetal is called the DEH-6000UB in the UK and DEH-6050UB in the rest of the Asian markets. The DEH-5000UB available in the UK doesnt have a counterpart here in India/Asia. The DEH-5000UB has an added bonus of 10 customized displays(you can choose from 10 different colours!). Similarly the Official Indian lineup doesnt have a direct counterpart of the DEH-4050 available in the rest of the Asian markets.

| I am still confused. Are the pictures I posted (which btw are from elsewhere in this thread) not the 5050 and the 5090 as available in India?Anyway, suffice it to say I did not like the new series in it's entirety. That's my humble opinion. I don't think they are very usable while driving. Neither were the old series to my mind, but these are much worse. I even saw the P88 in a demo car at the Autoexpo, and the install was piss poor, as well as the plasticy build quality. I don't mean any offence to anyone here, but apart from answering my above question, let's just keep the discussion limited to Kenwood please ![]()

| budget + VFM features + Good SQ as reported on this forum. Ideally I would have gone for an Apline, as I find them aesthetically the most pleasing, and they are supposed to have great SQ, but since I will mostly be using USB followed by Aux-In, they are not very convenient.

Looks wise I love some of the Alpine's too as they are clutter free and simple with sharp lines. Pioneer is to chamki for me but then it always provided bang for buck so Iv had to ignore the looks ![]()
