Post Question about Crutchfield

Hi,

While browsing through the forum, I noticed some members have purchased things from Crutchfield and Ebay. While I personally don't have good experiences of Ebay to share, I am more keen to know about Crutchfield.

- Are the prices better than what you get from your preferred shop/grey market? Otherwise whats your reason for shopping through Crutchfield?

- Do the products come shipped with some kind of international warranty? (something which is ACTUALLY honored here!)

- Any good/bad experiences with Crutchfield that are worth sharing? Or making other members aware?

Many people will have good experience with these guys. Bad ones are hard to come by. They are thorough professionals.

They are the most popular Webstore online having the max number of official tie ups, but even they goof up on service at times.

One of our forum member's Anant, id Akbaree bought a high end Eclipse player for $500 and it failed in 2 days, and now they are not responding on warranty claims. This product was shipped within the USA.
So IMO the extra charge on Crutchfield is hogwash. there are other stores with cheaper prices with the same product.

For any online purchases look for the Store features like BBB (Better Business Bureau) recomended.

In that case, can you recommend a similar good quality store which ships to India?

I have used Crutchfield within the US. Their warranties are valid only within the US so if something goes wrong you have to ship the product to them from a US address.

Still if I were in India I would get my ICE here, just for the peace of mind.

I use eBay in US extensively and have been lucky 9/10 times. I bought 2 cars from eBay and no problemo..

Buying ICE from the US is a hit or miss. Sometimes you get lucky - (pristine 7998 @ 300$ that is working flawlessly) or you can have issues like Akbaree.

IMHO he was pushing his luck with Eclipse in India though.

My take is - get something that is too good a bargain and hence worth the risk, else buy in India

Nothing in particular, but I was just browsing around and *assumed* that CF prices were better compared to prices here. Also the fact that buying from CF reduces chances of fake products.

Just for comparison, I checked the following products on CF:
1. Pioneer HUs
2. 4 channel amps - Blau, JBL
3. Wiring

Above products are better priced in India infact.
Maybe not wiring. But rest, yes.

Most of the good online US stores do not ship to India. Even if they do, the shipping cost will offset the difference in price. Better to get the things here itself in a reputed store with B&W.

Onlinecarstereo.Com - Wholesale Car Audio/Stereo Deals At Bargain Prices
