HU brands with Steering wheel remotes

I hate the HU mounting position in the DICOR.

@nitrous-anna, is there a receiver with your steering remote (a small black button) or is it transmitting to your HU directly? AFAIK there are no mass-market remotes using RF - way too costly per unit!

The Blaupunkt after-market steering wheel remote has a button receiver which can be mounted anywhere on the dash conveniently - it connects to the HU at the rear, I think!

As an interim measure, try sticking alu foil on the front the gear stick shroud!

I have a remote (steering mounted) for my JVC. Its working purrfectly.

could the steering remote be strapped to the gear shift ? Will this be useful at all ? Just a thought.

i would not suggest mounting it on the gearshift - could be irritating.
better to stick with the steering wheel itself or else onto the dashboard area within very easy reach of the person who is driving
if one has to stretch to reach it, or take ones eyes off the road while fiddling with it, it becomes very dicey!

Not gearshift. But, it must be possible with the handbrake lever.

again not a good idea guys - you will end up peering at the handbrake when you are supposed to look at the road ahead. Not many of us can operate this remote only by feel and without looking at it. Therefore not recommended in the interests of safety.

^^The Pioneer remote is a fantastic one that works easily just by feel.
Just four major buttons on the front and the volume rocker button at the rear.

yes Nitrous I agree
Ive got the same one in my vehicle
it is very easy to operate and doesnt irritate one by being mounted on the steering itself.
the vol button at the back is very handy as it is ideally located

the pioneer one I ve got cost Rs 2000
it ought to be available at most good quality car accessories/ music system stores
i would certainly recommend it since it is a huge advantage over the stock remote one gets with most systems - largely because it is steering mounted and very easy to operate while driving alone, since one doesnt have to take ones eyes off the road to increase decrease volume/ mute/ change stations on FM or tracks on CD etc.
The only sad thing in this is that you cant change songs on an IPOD with it. For that you simply have to use the IPOD itself unless you have a passenger who will fiddle with the IPOD while you drive!

You can use the remote if the IPOD is connected to the HU via the ipod adapter instead of the AUX input.
If you still wanna use the AUX input, then you should use this:

ipod adaptor means what exactly - is it the i trip or belkin wireless adaptor you are talking about?
because the quality of sound transfer via FM is not very good - i prefer to use the cable connector through AUX inlet.
so I suppose I ve got to buy the drive play stuff
plse clarify so I can understand fully and plan

i agree - i suggest you mount it above the middle spoke of the steering wheel in which case it wont get any interference in terms of impulse transmission
thats where the audio shop chap fitted it on my scorp and it is working perfectly fine

alternately nitrous, your batteries may be near dead and therefore the signals weak. Maybe a new battery can help
