Default JBL 333 Installed - First Impression and Pics

Just got the 333 installed in my Verna. Took the guy 45 minutes.

Very nice display at night and the HU is made out of very good quality, buttons and knob are well made and easy to operate.

Settings are nice and I am not too much into sound BUT it is a good system for people who have amp and sub installed.

Remote - surprise !! Reminded me of the creative cd rom I had 12 years back ! At this price - a remote is excellent VFM.

Sound - The only song in the pen drive was Sunidhi Chauhan & Enrique - nice clear music, FM was better than my Alpine.

Here are a few pics -

Default Re: JBL branded HU? EDIT: GT-X555 & 333 Confirmed!

hi has anybody ordered from a website? I hear it is being sold for 3.7K. Do they provide any waranty or service on the set?
@vkochar, how is the sound quality without conecting to the amp. I am desperately in need for a sterao, confused to go with kenwood or this. But the priceing for the jbl is fantastic.
Any one know authorised service center for trivandrum?

I love it !! In fact have a 4gb USB pen drive loaded with Armin & Tiesto and I simply love it. The bass and sound clarity on mp3 is amazing.

I do not have an amp BUT i am sure with an amp this would be superb.

Totally VFM !!

Hi Vkochar,

I am looking for the 333 , could you share where you sourced the head unit from? and if you don't mind sharing the cost of the same.

Cheers

I did not buy it and was gifted one

But I hear it sells for around 3.8 - 4.0 k for 333.

I love it more and more with each passing day.

The only irritating part is if I have my mobile phone kept underneath the slot where the HU is the USB does not function. Now I have a Blackberry which continuosly sends and receives data so now I keep it lower than the usual place.

Other than that I am loving it

Yes i was talking of carplus only. What i'm worried is the service, if you buy it from a shop and it goes bad you can always give it back under warranty, but the website guys say you have to bring it to the state distributor for service which is not feasible to many people. But again no one provides it cheaper either.

Isnt that a really big bug? That means any little interference can disable its circuitry maybe even fry it?

My 333 does not sound great with ipod nano and mp3s .. . frequencies appear to be missing although th sound is clean. I suspect the cable may be mono, but it has two parallel wires and the jack does look stereo. And the volume also is extremely low compared to the 333 playing radio - I need to crank up the volume levels to 30+ to hear properly.

Then maybe analog FM will always sound better than the DAC of digital player?

How much is the apple original cable?

The main point of my post is however - one can get rid of the limitations of 333 in random playback/shuffle by using an external pocket player.

If you're talking about cable and jack - this probably has nothing to do with the 333, but more to do with the AUX cable you are using.

If the cable has tree separated sections on the plug, it is stereo.

<=|=|=D---------

As far as frequencies missing etc, it could be some sort of loose connection.
I've never used the AUX-in, so can't comment on quality.

Also, as a rule of thumb, keep your iPod volume at 80-90%, not more. This should help prevent clipping.

I used to listen @ vol 23. Then i MP3Gain-ed all my mp3s to -89.0dB, and from then on i've had to use 30 as the equivalent volume.

This is not really an issue, since the system goes all the way to "50", and does a good job.

However, if you want to bump up the AUX level, there is a setting somewhere. I forget what its called (line-in? aux-in? level?), which lets you control the input voltage for the AUX plug. This might solve your volume difference.

Don't waste your time with this when any other good quality cable will do.

Hi...glad that you are liking you buy. Wanted to ask about your complete setup. Do you have amp and sub too? Since your system is a 2 RCA output so is it possible to attach 4 speakers, amp and sub? I am planning to for an ICE setup for my Ritz and was confused whether to go for a 3 RCA or 2RCA HU.
Also did you look at Pioneer HUs also before buying kenwood and if yes, then any particular reasons you chose kenwood?
