Goa-Madikeri-Mudumulai-Wayanad-Goa Route

Dear All,
I am planning a trip Goa-Madikeri-Mudumulai-Wayanad-Goa this December.

The route I was initially initially considering was Goa-Mangalore-Madikeri-Mudumulai-Wayanad and return Wayanad-Mangalore-Goa. However, when I read through most of our threads, the condition of the Mangalore-Madikeri road is listed as being very bad. Also NH 17 from Karwar to Mangalore has not been given great reviews either.

Due to this, I am considering leaving out Madikeri and travel from Goa-Hubli-Mysore-Mudumulai-Wayanad. The return journey would be from Wayanad to Goa. I would really be grateful if someone can give me some advice on how exactly to plan this road trip(onward and return). I have already done bookings for Mudumulai follwed by Wayanad. Hence the first stop(apart from any night halts required) will be at Mudumulai. I would like to halt for a night at Madikeri on my onward jounrney but if going to Madikeri is a problem then would not mind skipping it as well.

I also droping out madikeri since there is no good and short road from
mangalore to madikeri.
Any update whather this mangalore - puttur - sulya - sampaj - madikeri road is open for traffice ?
This sulya - sampaj road is a shortest road shown on google , but if it closed or very bad then then i am also canceling madikeri.

Please give update on this , is it open for private vechiles traffice ?
