^^

Thanks for your replies.
Can you let me know some of the places which fall on the route and worth visiting?

I might go for October but not sure.
Otherwise, would April be fine?

KMVN seems to be fine but I am little skeptical about govt. accommodations.
Are there any other hotels worth considering?

So, let me start with - When to visit?
The options are - October (during Dusshera) OR April.
Which one will be better for having a good view of the Himalayas and nicer weather?

Next, duration of visit?
I am thinking 8-9 days from Delhi and back. Is that enough?

Which places?
So far,I am thinking of -
Nainital
Kausani
Binsar

Should I add Munisiyari or Chaukori to the plan?
Also, there seem to be some nice places on the way like Jageshwar, Patal Bhuvaneshwar etc. I would like to cover them if I don't have to take a big deviation from the route.

Where to stay?
Assuming that you have 9 days in hand (ex Delhi to Delhi) lets see

Day 1 Delhi - Nanital

Day 2 Chill out at the lake and move to Kausani ( No need to spend more than a night at Nainital

Day 3 Kausani

Day 4 Kausani - Choukri

Day 5 Choukri

Day 6 Choukri - Munsyari

Day 7 Munsyari

Day 8 Munsyari - Jageshwar ( 10 to 12 hr drive back)

Day 9 Jageshwar - Delhi ( long drive back )

October should be Ok. If you are eyeing Dusshera holidays then PRE BOOK. Cause its packed with our brothers from Bengal . Especially the KMVN properties. Kausani has hotels with menu cards in Bengali .

With regard to accomodation KMVN Choukri is at awesome location. KMVN Kausani is decent. You can get better private acco there. KMVN Munsyari is also decent. You can get better there. If not anything else you won't go wrong with KMVN. But book early.

Hey, thanks a lot.
I know about Bong obsession for travelling, me being a Bong myself

Interesting thing is that you have left out Binsar in the above itinerary.
I thought Binsar KMVN is a must see. Also, it will be slightly different than Chaukori/Munisiyari.

is it worth going to Munisiyari ? Will the views be a lot different than Chukori/Kausani etc?

Can Jageshwar be covered from Binsar/Chaukori etc or do I need to stay overnight there?
As per http://www.euttaranchal.com/tourism/...ance-chart.php
Binsar seems to be the closest - 54KM, Kausani - 84 KM, Chaukori - 123 KM.
It should be doable from Binsar/Kausani?

If it's not possible in October, do you think April is a good time?

Default Re: Hyderabad to Kumaon Region

It has been a year since my last post in this thread but I am happy that the trip is finally happening.

Starting from Hyderabad on April 30.
Here is how the itinerary is looking like -

Day 1: Flight from Hyd'bad, reach Delhi at 11:30, take cab to Nainital.reach by 8 PM.
Day 2: Nainital sightseeing
Day 3: Nainital to Jhaltola (anything on the way?) , lunch may be at KMVN Chaukori.
Day 4: Jhaltola
Day 5: Jhaltola to Munsiyari, reach by 4-5 PM
Day6: Munsiyari
Day 7: Munsiyari to Binsar (leave by 8 AM, reach Binsar by 4 PM)
Day 8: Binsar
Day 9: Binsar to Delhi (10 hours)/Binsar to Kathgodam, take Ranikhet express to Delhi
Day 10: Delhi-Hyderabad flight, back to home

How does the itinerary look?
I know I am leaving out Kausani but then if I want to go to Munsiyari, I have to drop something otherwise it will be very hectic.

So, basically there are 3 options -
Option 1: Nainital->Jhaltola/Chaukori->Musiyari->Kausani (NO Binsar)
Option 2: Nainital->Kausani->Jhaltola/Chaukori->Binsar (NO Munsiyari)
Option 3: Nainital->Jhaltola/Kausani->Musiyari->Binsar (NO Kausani).

Right now, I am tilting more towards Option 3.
I will probably go to Patal Bhuvaneshwar from Chaukori.

Hotels so far shortlisted -
Nainital - Vikram Vintage Inn, Seasons resort, Classic
Jhaltola- Misty mountains/Chaukori - Ojaswi reort
Munsiyari - Milam Inn
Binsar - Binsar Forest retreat.

Opinions and suggestions on itinerary/hotels/anything more than welcome
Also, please suggest a decent and value-for-money hotel near Delhi airport in case I have to stay at Delhi for a night.
Any reference for cab driver/agency for the trip from Delhi?
Anyone has tried online cab agencies like getmecab/bookcab ?

Thanks
Aadi
