Nope, both sentences have no co-relation. I was laughing at the hilarious expression, while appreciating the picture he'd posted!

Remember there are three limits - i. Capability of the car, ii. Current capability of the driver and iii. the legal speed limit.

A safe driver will stick to the lowest of these three at all times.

Totally agree. The majority of our road-users are not mature enough to appreciate the dangers of high speed, alcohol abuse etc.
It is a bit like catapulting someone from the Stone Age to the Space Age and expecting him/ her to adapt quickly.
Or it is like graduating from a bullock cart to a high powered automobile and expecting to be able to adapt immediately.
I commend the fact that these new roads are being built, but we require proper education on road usage and road rules, backed up by impartial enforcement.

Maybe we do not deserve world class highways. I hope they use their survellience cameras to catch and prosecute the culprits and also post their pictures on the print and video media. I have absolutely Zero sympathy and total contempt for these louts.

This (undipped of course) and hogging the RH lane contributed to me getting 17.6kpl in my Civic AT on the Agra - Kanpur run. I was a bit tired having started from home at 6:00am for Agra and it was sunset and beyond. So I had to stick to 80-95 on NH2.

Default Highly Commendable Development for Uttar Pradesh

I had some work crop up in Agra on Monday & Tuesday this week and had to travel from Faridabad to & fro on both dates, instead of taking the shorter (directly through NH2) route i thought i'd give the Yamuna eway from Noida a shot.

Now, typically for a 1pm meeting i'd leave 4 hours in advance and usually reach Agra in 3Hrs and 30Mins (give or take 15mins due to traffic) which meant leaving at 9am.
Thought since this is an expressway the extra distance to Noida would be covered up by a higher average speed i left at 9 as-well.

What i had in store for me i could never have fathomed in a million years (or at least in my lifetime)

I reached the Kalindi Kunj-Greater Noida junction at approximately 930am and reached greater noida at exactly 9:53 am (there was a jam on the greater noida expressway because of a 2-bus collision which blocked off one side of the eway)

As soon as you take the on ramp towards Agra on the Yamuna expressway you will find it hard to believe you are still in India, as this 165km stretch of highway is right up there with the best of the roads in Western Europe (believe me i've driven almost 200,000+ kms all over Europe over the past 4 years) Hats off to the Jaypee group for doing such a commendable job of it.

I had given up on the state of conditions when it came to even the most basic of infrastructure in India, though after visiting the yamuna eway i have been proven wrong. If we are capable of building roads like this why cant we set an example of it and start giving QUALITY infrastructure the importance it deserves?

It might not have been an easy task for the Jaypee Group but the fact is that they have accomplished the unthinkable, and that too in Uttar Pradesh! Why canít Haryana look beyond the age old Jatt-Gujjar one-upmanship and do something so glorious for the state as one? I seriously believe the eway means a dawn of a new era for not only Agra but Uttar Pradesh and India as a whole. For the first time in many years on August the 15th, i was proud to be an Indian.

Some pictures i took on Wednesday, Please excuse the cam-phone quality.

No, that was the first, that problem was there ever since cars were driven here even with the oldest ambys and standards, but I think these loveable 'modern expressways' would have taken care of that since the drivers pay through their nose to use them to cut their travel time.

Saw on the paper that once the free riders were gone traffic was pretty sparse yesterday.

Thumbs up for Indian Govt & Jaypee group for enabling us to experience world-class roads(offcourse with Toll-included)

And, Congratulations to all motorists for this brilliant highway.
More-or-less, its a move in the right direction for the country & investors.

This may not be the truly exact sentence to quote but nonetheless what I mean to say by this post refers well to what my friend believes as above.

Don't expect such a Gigantic project to begin full-on in a one go. Thankfully they've done with proper assistance, canteens, buildings, restrooms, etc initially, which can be brought into action anytime by filing contracts or tenders.
This is a drastic change for Motorists, Roadside villagers/population & even animals(i guess, they do think in the sense of their own maybe)
& they all will take their own sweet time to adapt to this change.
But afterall all this is a matter or driving & 'To Drive safely & responsibly' has to be followed always, whether on Autobahn or expressway or any NHs'.

Truly its a dream come for dream India.

Not sure if this has been posted before! but this expressway is not shorter, that's just a marketing gimmick.

Though will it save time? - Yes

Delhi - Agra via expressway

Delhi - Agra via NH2

For most in Delhi it will not cut the driving time to half but will definitely save 1.5hrs and a lot of driving effort.

I came back from Agra via the expressway on 14th Aug and the experience was amazing. First road where i could put my Scorp on cruise control and drive at a stretch on cruise

Only negative point was no eating joints opened on 14th - though the guy at toll plaza said that it will be opened from 16th

Also, just for info - there is a Palwal exit on the expressway. I did not take it as i had to goto Indirapuram - but i think in future this is the exit that us GGN, FBD folks will use.

If you chance to goto Agra again - do explore this option and let us also know.

I will post some pics as soon as i process them.

Hello.

I am driving to Agra tomorrow and got to know through the hotel reservations that they are receiving calls from guests informing them that they would not be reaching on time. This is apparently because the Expressway is shut today.

How much truth in this? I would not want to put my mother through the torture of the old highway. I am leaving tomorrow morning around 7 can someone please re-confirm?

Also, I hardly ever travel to Noida, I would be driving from Dwarka, will someone be kind enough to direct me from South Ex to the Expressway.

Thanks!

Can't confirm if the Expressway is open or not, but it's pretty easy to drive from South Extension to the Expressway. The easiest way is to simply drive straight on Ring Road (towards Ashram) until you reach the DND flyway (clearly delineated by signs) and continue on that road until you reach the toll. After paying the toll, take the second exit and simply keep on going straight - you'll come upon the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway after traveling 2 or 3 kms. Keep going straight on that, and you should see signs for the Expressway once you've almost reached Greater Noida.

There are other ways to get to Noida from South Extension as well, but this route is the simplest, and quickest.

Hope that helped just a little!!

Not a little that helped a lot. Thank you so much. Hopefully I will enter an 'open' expressway. That was very neat
