Hi,

Mahabaleshwar is a good place to go to, but is hot in the afternoons. You will not get very good hotels in your budget as most decent ones cost 2.5-3k a night. I am going there myself on the 23rd for a week.

You can definately go by sedan and the roads from Mumbai via the Mumbai-Poona Expressway are very good. Takes about 4.5-5hrs from Mumbai. I dont know of any bypass or shortcut from vadodra. It is peak season and very crowded and lots of things to do.

hi,
mahableswar is a good choice and as viper said, itll be hot in the afternoon.
secondly its gonna be toooooooo crowded as this is vacation time. When u go to the lake or the market in the evenings youll faint with clausterphobia coz there'll be like one lakh people there.
you will get a good room in a decent resort like fountain ( if ure a gujju or u love gujju food like me) for approx 2.5 k for the room for 4 of you including meals (yum yum) then theres dina but forget it if ure a veggie. i think they charge around 1200/- per person and its 800/- per kid upto 12. great place.
advice is that u book early. lot of other options like executive inn, valley view(best not to go there), Gautam, rajesh and if u can get booking at the club, great. one can even stay at brightlands but its like staying in a bombay hotel room with view....(by the way i go there 2-3 times a year and am a phd on mahableshwar)

Hey Bob,

Hotel Rajesh Is good and near main market food is excellent.
Here is the link for hotel rajesh's official website.
And Ramsukh resort is also good one out of city.
You have to go mahableshwar via Bombay-puna expressway.

Cheers,
Mugen_Power.

Hi,

Rasmukh resort is also good have stayed there but is far away from everything. Rajesh Hotel is very good and well located. Lake View is the best IMO. BTW Rajesh and Lake View are opp each other and I am staying exactly opp Rajesh Hotel in a bungalow. Do call on me if you are there. I will be there from the 23rd to the 28th. Call me if you wish

I have stayed in Lake view few times. I liked it, though food is nothing great. They take time to serve. Suites are decent and hotel has a nice swimming pool.

The route via Thane is the best, both from point of view of good roads as well as speeds.

Take the expressway to Bombay, turn off at Turbhe flyover, and go to Thane via Kopar Khairne to Airoli. From Airoli, take the creek bridge to the Eastern Expressway near Mulund and come via Thane onto Ghodbunder road which leads you to NH8 at Ghodbunder.

In case the route is unclear, please do PM so that I can detail it more.

Thanks.

One of my friend was mentioning about too much traffic via Thane route if i am going reach Thane at approx 8:30 -9:00 AM, so he was suggesting via Nasik (i guess many buses go by that route i.e. Nasik-Paith-Dharmapur; he was mentioning that i must reach Dharmpur before sunset.

If I am taking Saputara soute then i must reach Saputara by noon so that i can cross Dang region during daytime.
