Bangalore to Kannur - Road info needed

How much distance of Gonikoppa road is bad? The place I plan to stay is 12 kms away from Gonikoppa. So I am planning to take the road from Hunsur to Gonikoppa and try my luck.

I am driving tomorrow evening, have one qtn: I will be taking Kushalnagar route; I see that Hunsur-Kushalnagar is around 45 KM. Where to take left towards Siddapura? any land mark?

After Kushalnagar, proceed on to the Madikeri road (SH88), after you exit Kushalnagar this is the first Left turn you get SH91.

If the place is beyond Gonikoppa then I would to suggest use the Kushalnagar road to reach it.

If you want to try the Gonikoppa road: Both begining and end roads are bad. Its in the middle that road is managable. The 8 or 10 super pot holes i mentioned are spread all accross the route...

Latheesh, once you crossed Bylakkuppe, then Kushalanagar town, you can see the left turn towards Siddapura. Orange county board is there to show the road sign. There is less chance of missing this left. Happy driving..!!

If you are coming back in the same route, be sure to follow the one way in Virajpet town.

It is 12kms from Gonikoppal towards Virarajendrapet. So if I am going from hunsur road first it will be Gonikoppal and after that 12kms to reach the place. I have attached the picture

Do I still take Kushalnagar road? Please suggest

The road condition is good, though narrow for a SH, couple of turning have potholes due to water/rain, other wise no comparison to gonikoppa road.

If I recollect the distances right, you would effectively only be doing about an additional of 20km which is not really big thing considering the road conditon via gonikoppa.

This is ofcourse with a disclaimer that with rains in the last two weeks it might have changed

Hi Everyone,
I am driving from Brookfield-bangalore to iritty with my wife 4 month old son. Pariyapattana-Siddapura virajpet iritty was my road a couple of months back and found to in Ok condition for my City. How bad it is now? Is it really worth to take the Kushalnagar diviatiion as it is additional 20+KMs?

Srirangapattana to Yelawala -- Fair
Yelawala to Hunsur -- Excellent
Hunsur to Perumpady -- Bad
Perumpady to Maakuta -- Excellent
Maakuta to Kootupuzha -- Good
Kootupuzha to Iritty -- Bad
Iritty to Mattanur -- Bad
Mattanur to Kannur -- Excellent

On Google map, I see two routes-
a) Chovva-Mattanur Road:
MATTANUR - ANJARAKANDY - MOVANCHERRY - CHOVVA - KANNUR route which joins NH17 @ thazhe chovva
&
b) Kannur Mattanur Road:
the MATTANUR - EDAYANNUR - MATHUKKOTH - KANNUR route which joins NH17 @ mele chovva

The route taken by you touched MATHUKKOTH then Mele Chovva, right ?
