KEMMANAGUNDI would be the best place to visit this season with family.

Very true, and you should take Chikmagalur Kemmanugundi route to get the best driving/scenic pleasure, instead of Kadur route.

Sharu..
My take if you plan to go to chickmagalure...

2 routes to chickmagalur
Bng-Hassan-Belur-chickmagalur.
Bng-Tumkur-kadur-Chickmagalur

Both the roads are good, and the second route is less traffic, but the first one has some other places of interest as it passes through Belur and you can also visit Halebid.

After you are in chickmagalur, Please check out Muthodi tiger reserve. It is very unlikely yoou can see a tiger, (even if it is next to you, U will not be able to spot, so thick jungle it is), but a very good place to visit, It does not take more than an afternoon...Try to make it as early as possible in the morning.

Then in the after noon, you can proceed to Kemmanugundi. Chick magalur-Kemmannugundi, is helluva drive.

Enjoy buddy..

Hey Guys,
I'm planning for K. Gudi(http://www.junglelodges.com/resort_o...?resort=K+Gudi), booking with JLR.
  • Would I be able to enojy wild life considering this is a rainy season
  • which is the best route to reach this place from Bangalore
  • Are there other places on the way to this that I can enjoy while going / returning considering JLR program is just one day and night
Thanks in advance

Ketan ,
What are you driving to K gudi?

There are 2 routes, 1 adventurous, 1 convenient..

Adventurous...Mysore...Nanjangud...Chamraj nagar...K.Gudi.

Here, Till Mysore, the road is excellent, then till Chamaraj nagar, is kinda OK, there after, it needs lotta skills and stronger car. The jungle here is very good, and I enjoyed every bit of it. It passes through the reserve forest.

Convenient: Maddur-malavalli/Kanakpura malavalli..Kollegal...Yalandur.. BR Hills..K gudi.
Here.. Till malavalli the road is good, there after its a mixed bag.. there are good roads interleaved with very poor roods. The distance you drive in jungle is very small a nd the road in the jungle till BR hills are good.

Wild life:, Yes, you can see lotts Bisons and Birds... anything else I doubt.

Is Kemmanagundi and K. Gudi are the same places or different?

Angry Avoid Shivana Samudram via Kanakapura

Had gone to Gaganchakki about a month ago via Kanakapura road. AVOID. Road is non existent, and after Kanakapura, it's only a dirt track.

A better option would be to use the Bangalore-Mysore road, and take a left at Maddur.

Ketan,
K gudi and kemmannugundi are far apart. They are different.

If you are driving a Palio D, I do not doubt its capabalities. I drove a Fiat Petra in this route.

The road from Chamraj nagar to K gudi.. BR hills is tarmac but rough and bumpy. The ghats start after some distance after you enter the jungle and continue till the top of the hill. The trick is not to get into any trouble in any chance. a simple puncture shop is nowhere near your reach there. Almost zero traffic in any direction and very difficult to get help.

Other road through BR hills is also twisty ghats, but the road is smoother and there is a lotta traffic. No need to panic in case you get stuck.

But the former is very scenic.

That's kewl DRC,
I'm excited to drive down that route (adventurous). I'll see if I can get the booking with JLR for the following weekend and visit the place.

Do you have any idea about places close to K Gudi that can be covered along with this trip?

Hey Guys,
I’m planning to go to K Gudi next weekend. I understand that I can book the JLR for a night and two days. I have some more time I guess and I think I’m not going to be satisfied just with one night and few hours during the day time.

I was trying to find out if we have any other sources to stay in this area. Its not that I don’t like JLR! I guess this is the best one can find, in the middle of the forest. However, its going to be lil heavy on my pocket if I stay along with family for more than two or there days. So, I was looking for an economic stay option in this areas so I can stay for one or two more days and enjoy the nature around me.
