Default Traffic disruptions in Haryana due to the Reservation Protests!

Hi Guys, I am in Delhi and need to get back home in Jalandhar by tomorrow.
The stupid agitation going on in Haryana has blocked NH-1.
In which case what can be best way to reach Jalandhar by altogether bypassing Haryana?

1) Delhi - Baraut- Shamli - Saharanpur - Poanta sahib - Nahan - Solan - Baddi - ropar - jalandhar

or

2) Delhi - Meerut- Muzzafarnagar - Deoband - Saharanput - Nahan - Solan - Baddi - Ropar - Jalandhar

PS : I am travelling with my wife, mother and daughter, so i'll prefer the safer option.

Route 2 is better. Delhi to Muzaffarnagar is a very decent four lane highway. Do leave early, ideally not later than 6, as the Delhi-Meerut stretch sees a lot of crazy local traffic in the morning.

it should be ok to travel now on NH 1, if you must avoid then you can continue on Delhi - Shamli-Karnal and then rejoin NH , whatever problems were reported came from Sonepat region only nothing beyond on Nh1.

Let us hope the agitation does not spread to UP. These are often called Jatlands, and are the haunts of Ch. Ajeet Singh (son of Ch Charan Singh and ex IITKgp and IBM), and his ilk.

I know a few people who are stuck in Karnal, waiting to get to Delhi. Locals are advising not to venture towards Shamli as well, seems there are blockades on Karnal - Shamli road too.

Try to bypass Haryana entirely.

Right now, the best option for urgent travel from Delhi to Punjab is to fly in to Chandigarh and then take a cab from there.

Jats in UP, rajasthan and delhi are already under OBC or SBC quota, in all probability they have no reason to join protests.
For going to punjab, after reaching Muzzafarnagar - Deoband - Saharanpur, one can proceed to yamunanagar, ambala, onto NH1, which though in haryana, are far from jat heartland and should be free from any incidence. Am from Karnal and from what information i have highway from karnal towards chandigarh is open and incident free.

Avoid Merrut - Shamli region completely.

Take NH-24 & reach Haridwar via Gajraula - Najibabad.

From Haridwar, you can proceed via Dehradun - Paonta Sahib - Nahan....

Is it true that Sukhdev Dhaba and Murthal Haveli have been burnt down and protesters have dug trenches near Sonepat breaking connectivity with Delhi.

Can't say about Haveli, but Haldiram's and other prominent dhabas in the vicinity have been completely vandalised and looted.

Confirmed by a HVK group member who owns a restaurant (Highway Dreams) in Murthal. There is absolutely zero police or army presence around Murthal and the trouble makers are getting away with the mayhem under the cover of the agitation.

Following is the news:

Sukhdev and Haveli partially burned.
Haldiram vandalized.
Another new hotel opposite them, Park Blue (4*) was also damaged and looted.
Pehelwan completely burned down (which was owned by a jat!!).

This gent accomodated 500 people in his place yesterday - hope his place stays safe!

I hope this agitation cools down as the centre has assured of taking into consideration all the demands made. The Centre has sent R.A.F so i guess now it will be pretty safe on the highways.
Drive safe
