No. Malur will take me towards Kolar and NH4 (North). I want to head south East, towards Shoolagiri and Krishnagiri.

The bridge I am referring to is at Bagalur. You need to cross it to take the Berikal road.

The road is not all that great.
May be less traffic, but surely not in a good condition.

Funny - so far no disputes for this land, between the 2 states. Long may this state of affairs continue!
Similar road is in the stretch between Chamrajanagar (KA) and Asanur (TN). The road enters TN briefly and then enters KA and again TN before Asanur.

PS: Asanur - one of my favourite places.

I have tried the following -

1) Varthur - Dommasandra - Chandapura - Attibele - Hosur - Krishnagiri
2) Varthur - Dommasandra - Sarjapur - Attibele - Hosur - Krishnagiri
3) Varthur - Dommasandra - Sarjapur - Bagalur - Hosur - Krishnagiri

The 4th seems interesting, atleast to avoid the now crowded Hosur - Krishnagiri stretch.

4) Varthur - Dommasandra - Sarjapur - Bagalur - Berikai - Shoolagiri - Krishnagiri.

Question is, has anyone tried this road before? How is it?

Regards,
Vrreddy.

PS: One tidbit info -If you are taking Option #2 (SH 35) between Sarjapur and Attibele, you seem to hit a patch of Tamil Nadu, around the Indus Valley school junction on SH 35, for about 2 KMs or so.

This is so, on Yahoo maps and Google Earth, but strangely Google Maps shows Bagalur in Karnataka and SIDCO industrial estates in Hosur in Karnataka, so obviously Google Maps is wrong, where as Google Earth and rest of the maps seem to be right. Does anyone know more about this?

If you get upto Berigai, you can go all the way to Veppanapalli and then down to from there to Krishnagiri. The road actually joins the Hosur - Krishnagiri sector about 3-4 kms before Krishnagiri toll.

I believe the route should be around 50 kms or so.

Default Chandrachoodeswara Temple, Hosur: Need details

Friends,

I am planning to visit Chandrachoodeswara Temple in Hosur this weekend (Sunday, 30 Sep 2012). I'm planning to take my mum, who has difficulties in climbing stairs / steps.

The information I need is not available on the internet. I am looking for specific details, like

1. how far is it from hosur road to the temple atop the hillock?
2. are we allowed to drive upto the entrance of the temple?
3. if not, how many steps do we have to climb to reach the temple entrance, and how steep are they?
4. is 1 hour sufficient for dharshan, rest a while inside the temple, and descend?
5. any "don't miss it" facts about the temple?

Even the most trivial information can be of some help to me. Thanks.

Aparajit, The distance to the top is less than a km from the main road, watch out for sign board to your right after passing by the Rayakotta circle, you can drive upto the temple and parking space is available at the top. The temple staff have a kind of Ok attitude and I suggest you visit the place in the evening around 5.30pm, temple closes by 7.00pm. Stay on the flyover itself which exits very close to this circle

Thanks for the info. Is it a good idea to visit the temple in the morning, between 7 and 9?

Team,
I will be driving to Nagercoil next weekend from Hyderabad.
As per my current plan I will cross Bangalore (from Hebbal to Hosur) in the middle of the night, around 3 or 4 AM. So obviously, it is better to go to Hosur through the city.
I have chalked out a route on google maps and the track is attached in the file below. Can you please check it and offer your suggestions about whether it is alright, regarding the road condition, metro/flyover construction work, one way restrictions etc.?
During the midnight hours will the one way restrictions be still applicable inside the city?
And also is it safe? I am slightly worried because the "Mugging on Bangalore roads" thread almost always remains active. Does the Bangalore Police Patrol Cars move inside the city during the unearthly hours?
Thanks.
