| I'm planning a trip to Banglore/Mysore from Trivandrum from 24th Aug to 28Th Aug. Please help me with the route and restaurants on the way. Also BHP-ians from Bangy/Mysore ....If you can list a couple of decent Hotels along with prices would be great. My question was, is it better to stay in Bangy or Mysore. My wife tells me there are more places to see in Mysore than in Bangalore. Also what all can be covered in 3 days in both the places. Do not want to drive much once I reach either Bang/Mysore. Can you'll give me the attractions at both the places also. Thanks and regards... |

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | kamat2004 quite ambiguous I must say. Which place is your actual destination Bangy or Mysore ? Mysore : Hotels are cheaper when compared to bangalore. Lot of places to see and visit unlike bangalore. Bangalore : Chaos and traffic is all that I can think of .edit : Route wait till the experts reply. | Mysore : Sure you will find a lot of good places to visit. First Hotels: For food you can go to Green Leaf, Rasoi Magic on Kalidasa Road, good places with reasonable prices. For staying, I'm not sure as i have never stayed in any hotel in Mysore These are some of the good ones Kings Kourt, Metropole, Ginger Hotel, Dasprakash paradise. Places to visit: KRS dam and Brindavan gardens, Ranganthittu Bird sanctuary, Chamundi hills, Mysore Palace, Jagan Mohan Palace and it goes on and on. |

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | Bunny are you sure about that . kamat, I would pick on staying in mysore and go around seeing mysore than waste my time in bangalore. You head out for a drive through the city to visit shopping malls , you are dead meat in traffic jams. Dont waste your time here if you really want a relaxed and peaceful vacation. Around mysore you can head out for a safari also in the Bandipur forest reserve. What route do you intend to take? Last edited by rjstyles69 : 19th July 2007 at 17:28. |

| Ideally, take the following route: Trivandrum-Bangalore NH47 from Trivandrum-Ernakulam-Trissur-Palakkad-Coimbatore-Perundurai-Bhavani (SH)-Mettur-Toppur (NH7)-Dharmapuri-Krishnagiri-Hosur-Bangalore Bangalore-Mysore SH from Bangalore-Ramnagaram-Maddur-Mandya-Srirangapatnam-Mysore Return - Route 1 Mysore-Nanjangud-Gundulpet-Bandipur-Mudumalai-Ooty-Conoor-Coimbatore...... Return - Route 2 Mysore-Nanjangud-Chamarajnagar-Dimbam-Bannari-Satyamnagalam-Coimbatore.... ...balance on NH47 same way you came via Palakkad, Trissur, Ernakulam Doing Trivandrum-Bangalore in a day is possible only if leave early from TVM and are a fast driver - almost 750 kms. Road is good except some bad stretches reported in Kayamkulam area, and some repair work going on in Dharmapuri-Krishnagiri area. All towns are bypassed, except that when you switch over from NH47 at Bhavani to the SH to Mettur/Toppur, you have to go through Bhavani town. Facilities are very good. Bangalore-Mysore is a great drive. Assume 3 hours for the drive, although I think you should drop in on the way at Srirangapatnam and Brindavan gardens (KRSsagar). From Mysore, I have indicated 2 routes, both of them involve some bad roads. If you go through Ooty, be prepared for elephants/ bison at Bandipur/ Mudumalai and a stiff climb from Theppekadu-Masinagudi-Kalhatti to Ooty. Plus, teh road from ooty-Conoor-Mettupalayam is not in good shape (you can take teh betetr road from Ooty-Kotagiri-Mettupalayam).You have to also navigate through Coimbatore town. The other route is to take another jungle route - this may have some bad stretches off Chamarajnagar - but is the fastest way to get to Coimbatore and Trivandrum from Mysore. If you take this route, you can definitley reach Trivandrum the same day but the Ooty route will be slower. Kumar From Mysore, you have |

| Senior - BHPian | Agree with rjstyl, not worth wasting time in bangalore. Instead you can visit these places: Bandipur, Masinagudi, BRhills, Ranganathittu...also you can visit wild valley farm,You can also visit odeyarpalya(budhist settlement) on the way. and try to make it to these eat outs at mysore: Fishland for nice mangy dishes and crispy dosas at Dasprakash |

| Senior - BHPian | DOnt think of staying in Bangalore....I suggest if u cannot do that far, stay in Hosur (Hotel Renaisance near the flyover comes to my mind)...There are many places in Mysore to stay as people are suggesting... We stayed at a hotel very near to the Palace and it was good (dont remember its name)... You can also stay in KRS (Jungles Lodges coming up with a resort there dont know whether started or not and ofcourse there is Mayura which is nice too) or in some resort in Srirangapatnam as well.... | Senior - BHPian | How mean of all of us, staying in Bengalooru and not wanting any visitors here. :-) It has its delights, good pubs, good looking women (oops, I know Kerala is No. 1 in that) probably well dressed women, some decent malls, and a whole lot of traffic jams right from Electronic City to Kanakapura. If you want to skip Bangalore, I strongly suggest the Sathyamangalam route to Mysore. Its shorter by 75kms+ and will save you the transit time through Bangalore's infamous traffic. Bad roads in Ooty/Conoor. Better to avoid or take the Kotagiri route. |

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | Why drive via Hosur if you aint visiting bangy ? Deviate at CBE and head to Conoor--Kotagiri--Masinagudi--Gundlupet--Nanjangud--Mysore. |
