Hyderabad to Horsley Hills

Hola senors ,

has any one done this route if so suggestions would be most welcome ,we guys would be leaving to Horsley Hills on sat early morning 4 AM.

the route so far is :

Hyd --> Shamshabad-->Jadcharla--> Kurnool-->Yaparla-->Dhone-->Banganapalle-->pulivendula-->kadiri-->Madanapalle-->horsley hills

taken from the roadsofindia site.

is this the best route?

whoa, you gotta wait till morning I guess to get some replies on that one. By the way do file a detailed report on road conditions, ease of navigations, things to watch out for, final route taken etc.

so far is this Horsley Hills? And is it in AP or Karnataka?

U need not go till Madanapalle...I suggest the following route which will be faster

Route: Hyderabad - Jadcherla - Kurnool - Gooty - Anantapur (on NH7, turn left on NH205) - Kadiri - HH

There is a right turn about 10km before madanapalle, just ask somebody for HH about 15km before madanapalle on Nh205....After turning right it is about 8km of hill climb....

It is in AP but only 150km from bangalore

akroy's recommended route is the fastest way to HH.

The road leading to Kadiri is fine and in general, you'll find NH205 devoid of traffic in that sector.

The road in Kadiri town (which you will pass through) is a nightmare and it is best to do this in daylight. The road in front of the bus terminus is specially worth mentioning (total 4x4 territory).

After Kadiri town, the roads are again OK.

Romyeo4u... can you please let me know if there is anything special at HH to make the trip from Hyderabad becuase I am planning to go to Anantpur so thought if there is something interesting then I can go to HH. Is that a tourist destination?

What is special to you? If u r in a mood to roam around then dont go to HH....and if u want to just relax, have a nice early morning walk, swimming in the pool and hear the chirping wind sound then u go there...

But, let me tell there is no point going there if u cannot book punnami hill resort...there are 2-3 points inside the huge resort itself....plus the nice pool at just 25 rs / hr....u can enjoy it...

It's a Hillstation and I was told that its got a very good view points and there is a sanctuary near by and if you go 100km further you would be seeing Talakona waterfalls which is amazing it seems.

Hey Abhi
we have booked 2 windfalls because we are 9 in total 5 from Chennai 4 from Hyderabad.

did you try the talakona waterfalls ?

Talakona is a fascinating place. We visited it in 1997 by driving down from Tirupati---was an hour's drive from there.
You gotta walk a km through a forest, with trees more than a century old, till you reach the waterfall. The water cascades from a height of 300 feet or so, and it is delightful to bathe in the stream below.
A must see for visitors in the vicinity.

According to Eicher Road Atlas it is close to 500 km

yep !! 540 approx with the roads of india and other friends of mine told me , Will update once the trip is over.

and good places to stop by on way to HH for the food and the fuel.

we guys would be starting at 4am , by 7 we should be hitting Kurnool plannin to halt for breakfast over there.

Whoa, in that event, HH is almost the same distance as Hyd-Bangalore
