Bangalore - Neelamangala (turn left on NH48, Mangalore Highway) - Kunigal - Hirisave (turn left for Sravanbelagola) - Sravanbelagola

Road are excellent throughout and proper signages are there...in early morning it will take about 2 - 2.5 hours...

Default One more q. please

Thanks for the very useful info, folks.
Just one more question - are there decent enough places to eat at Shravanabelagola or would it be more advisable to pack lunch when leaving from Bangalore?

Rgds

There are some nice Jain veggie food joints operating out of old houses. Cant recall specific names but this particular one was right at the corner of a street as you come down from hill, food was one of the best I had ever eaten.

The road is good, so don't be overenthusiastic and drive too fast. But normally the road will be empty after neelamangla as you are going at daytime.
And it's bit of a problem to find some good restaurants on that route. As far as I remember there is a Kamath restaurant on the way but I'm not able to remember exactly where it was. Akroy, can you help him out about this option?
And try to be back to BLR before 8.30 pm as the Mangalore buses will ply on that road after 8/8.30 and it becomes a pain to negotiate them on night.
And if possible visit Belur and Halebidu also.

Well saw this note now as I have just returned after a OOty-Mysore trip (My Alto survived the Masinagudi climb exceptionally well with full 4 adult overload(all more than 75kg each) + luggage)

Now coming to topic:
Kamat is located abt 10km after Chanarayanpatna towards Hassan (in your right side from Bangalore)...
After crossing Hassan BP, there is marked road indicating Belur - Halebid in your right side, take it (road is excellent)...Ask anybody if in doubt after crossing Hassan BP...

Thanks for the wonderful input, all.. My trip has been postponed thrice now thanks to my three year old consistently hitting a 102 temperature every weekend the last three times...

Will definitely update/create new thread about the trip when i eventually make it

I'm hoping to make this a Blr-Shravanabelagola-Halebidu/Belur-Chikmaglur and back 2 day trip. Noting down info from all the threads for Chikmaglur stay.

Once again, thanks and I'll keep the threads rolling.
