I happy to read this development. So, for my next trip to Trichy, I shall go via Musiri.

will post detail travel log later, just a quick road update for others.
Which has been newly done? The State Highway or NH67?
My guess is it would be the SH!

Good to hear this.

Good to hear the update that NH67 between Trichy and Musiri is at last become good!
From Musiri, did you continue on NH67 to Karur or came to NH7 via Namakkal?
Have they completed 4-laning the NH67?

I was aware of Tanjore-Trichy being a 4L.
Is there a plan to widen it beyond Trichy all the way up to Karur (and beyond)? If so, that would be great.

We cam from Musri to Namakkal, musri to karur would be quite a bit longer.

Its the state highway that was under repair near Musri I was told, it is a two lane but good road, salem to namakkal was also told to be in bad condition but seems to be done and is part of NH.

NH67-is from Trichy to Karur on the southern side of river Kaveri & which is under expansion for 4 lane or something like that. In Jan i have travelled on this route from trichy towards Coimabtore and took 2.5+hrs to reach karur. It is better to avoid this part now till the work is complete. Better option is to take the SH25 on the northern side of Kaveri river from Namakkal to Trichy if one wants to connect Trichy with NH7. SH25 is a narrow road but condition is much better than that of the NH67 as of now.

I was trying to Google on NH67 4-Laning work. It seems there is a planned 4-Laned work from Mettupalayam all the way up to Tanjore (Maybe beyond all the way up to Nagapatnam). Definitely Gundlupet-Bandipur-Gudalur-Ooty-Mettupalayam would not be touched as its Ghat section. But by all means, that section is very good in spite of it being a 2L.

So looks like where 4-Lane for NH67, its being done.

This would also help reduce Bangalore-Trichy greatly, as one would get 4-Lane all the way (NH7/NH67).

The Trichy (No. 1 Tollgate to be specific) -Musiri stretch has been laid within 3 weeks huh ? This surely is election effect then!! I last did 3 weeks before, it continued to be in a very very bad state.

Last week, been to Trichy from Bangalore and back (by Bus. my car in workshop for repairs )

4L is in progress on NH67 (Karur-Trichy) and can see the work being done in
some parts of Kulithalai-Trichy. Hope it comes good. We can get complete 4L from B'lore-Trichy (NH7/NH67).

Musiri-Trichy is just patched up, not relaid. But in good condition.

Musiri-Thottiyam still bad (around 10 Kms), not worth for sedans. Would be great if they patch up this stretch as well.

Thottiyam-Namakkal is in OK condition. Not great but Drivable.

I would still prefer Namakkal-Thuraiyur-Trichy instead.

Did B'lore-Salem-Namakkal-Thuraiyur-Trichy last weekend.

Thuraiyur-Namakkal many stretches are being relaid. Will be completed within this month i guess. Then, the route would be absolutely good to drive on without any bad patches.

My wife and MIL need to do an urgent trip to Mayuram. We are unable to find train tickets. We are looking at the option of taking a Volvo bus (if available).

What are the options? What is the route taken by the buses? I am a little concerned about the Namakkal-Trichy route. It was in a bad state when we did a road trip to Trichy/Srirangam last October.

If by Volvo, then no worries. Journey will be comfortable.

Route for Volvos will be: Namakkal-Musiri-Kulithalai-Trichy (KPN/KSRTC). You have lot of buses in this route.

Namakkal-Trichy update:
Namakkal-Musiri : bad patches near thottiyam (=no roads) and is horrible to drive for cars. Still good for Buses/Trucks.
Musiri-Trichy is patched up and is good to drive.

I left Trichy by last midnight and drove in my Linea via Musiri, Thottiyam & Namakkal accompanied by heavy downpour with less visibility. The bad stretch comprising potholes and huge craters comprised a small distance of less than a km between Musiri and Thottiyam. I could manage them because of very less traffic at that time. But, during day time, it would have been a tough job to avoid them. The rest of the road was neatly patched up or resurfaced all the way to Namakkal.
