Hmm, the same route is doable on a karizma in about 21 hours and lesser
(ex dahisar!).

Leaving that aside, you may wish to take the ahmedabad bypass - from baroda, take the vadodara halol toll road, then onwards to shamlaji.

Donno now, but was pretty good condition back in 05 - fwiw.

Maybe I would push it as far as possible on Day 1 - great road conditions - targetting Ahmedabad, because Day 2 is going to be a little tougher and longer because of bad road conditions/ traffic jams between Baroda and Surat.

One can refer to mapmyindia.com

They have all the city map, Point to point direction. Text guidance, and important places in the route along with eating joints and hotels.

Oops, thoght you were going from Delhi to Bombay.

Please don't go into Ahmedabad City, have food at the Reliance Refresh (high-end A1 plaza) just before the expressway ends before Ahmedabad. After that, you can bypass Ahmedabad by taking the Sardar Patel Ring Road exit 1 km before the toll gate for the expressway.

Udaipur has lots of hotels. In case you want to stay outside Udaipur city, there are at least 2 resorts just before hitting the Udaipur bypass. I can refer my log books for the details.

abbey4u, I can give you detailed info from my log books, although I have more on petrol stations etc than hotels.

On the Sardar patel ring road there are 2 good restaurants. Havmor and Honest both serves punjabi, South Indian and snacks.

Let me know if you need any help.

Hai the Halol-Shamlaji road is in shambles, please do not take that. The road thro, Expressway - Himmatnagar - Shamlaji - Udaipur is the best bet. Your best bet would be to reach Udaipur, as you have planned and from there to Delhi.

If you start from Udaipur in the morning, you'd hit Gurgaon in peak hour. You can do Jaipur-Gurgaon in 3 - 3 and half hours. I've done Ghaziabad to Jaipur in 3 hours, starting @ 5 am in the maroning.

Happy Driving,

--Ramky

Even in the good old days of 2 lane highways, I have done Delhi-Jaipur in less than 5 hours, nowadsys it takes 2.5-3 hours. Keep in mind that you can face traffic jams getting out of Delhi (or entering) - near the airport thanks to flyover work.
