| Hi Piksumani, NH-8 is quite a good option till Udaipur and after that continue till Chittor on the first day itself. Surat - Baroda stretch is in quite a good condition right now and I would suggest you continue on NE-1 from Baroda till Ahmedabad and then take the Himmatnagar route to Udaipur and Chittor, where you must make a night halt. Udaipur would be too early and I would prefer hitting Chittor on day one if I were you. Cheers

| Hi, If time is not a constrain and would like to enjoy ghats and scenic drive, I will choose the following route: Mumbai-Nashik-Malegoan-Dhule-Indore-Dewas-Gwalior-Agra-Mathura-Delhi on NH3. Traditional 2 lane road. Most of the stretch is beautiful and winding hilly roads. Lot of scenic and thoroughly enjoyable. Route from Indore till Gwalior is dry, but nevertheless route is good. You can stretch at 80KMPH without any problems. If you planning for a scenic drive with no fuel consumption issues then this route is suggested. Any additional info, let me know,... I did this route 60 days before in my Hyundai Accent-GVS with one co-driver. |

| Further, if someone is going up north getting into Delhi will be a true mess. It is suggested to take a NH71 - NCR by pass at Bawal on NH8 well ahead of Gurgoan. Bawal-Rewari-Jhajjar-Rohtak-Panipat would be a ideal route. This route is also in good condition. I did Chandigarh to Mumbai 30 days before and this route was quite useful. |

| NH3 is not in good condition now after rains -avoid if you can. Even in best condition, slower speeds and poorer facilities. Certain sections avoidable at night. One our friends did the Rewari-Panipat route and has not stopped cursing it ever since - he did it 15 days ago. Bad roads, poor bypasses, slow speeds - better to go through Delhi any day.

| NH8-NE1-NH8-NH76-NH79-NH8 is in great condition, except for some bad rain damages between Daruhera and Manesar (towards Delhi). The Surat and Ankleshwar flyovers are complete and there are no traffic jam points.

| Some of the facilities after Ahmedabad: - Hotels in Himmatnagar, Shamlaji - RTDC at Ratanpur and Rishabdev after entering Rajasthan - A couple of resorts before entering Udaipur but no good places to eat without enetering Udaipur city - BPCL Ghar between Udaipur and Chittorgarh - Go into Chittorgarh city of you want to stay there - try either RTDC Panna or Hotel Padmini - Bhilwara also has hotels, but you have to go inside town - Terrible food facilities between Chittorgarh and Kishangargh - Hotel Panaghat immediately after getting back t NH8 at Kishangarh, just before the GVK Jaipur Expressway toll gate. Good place to eat and stay overnight - Excellent HPCL petrol pump on Jaipur Bypass - Excellent RTDC motels at Shahpura and Behror with toilet facilities

| Dear Kumar, I think you are talking about the "Midway" at Behror in the last line. +1 to that. I've used the facilities there many times and have always liked it.

| Senior - BHPian | @HVkumar we are planning a road trip from delhi to bbay and then probably goa. The roads are a major concern as few of the cars are on low profile tyres.

| All roads on the Delhi-Bombay-Goa sector are great and doable on any care - don't worry! Delhi-Bombay is entirely on 4-lane roads in excellent form and Bombay-Goa direct on NH17 is also a fantastic road.

| Absolutely, the Delhi-Bombay sector has the best highway stretch in India at the moment.
